Yes, on the 7X size and larger planes...and on the planes that have removable stabs like the 87" Extra, 89" Slick and larger planes...

I only fly electric, but I am curious. Doesn't the amount of fuel burned with a combustion engine weigh about as much as a servo?

If you look at pics of guys gas setups the goal is to get the fuel tank as close to the CG as possible to reduce any CG change.

This is only my 2nd gasser. My first was a EF MXS converted to a DLE-20. With that plane there was a small change from full and empty. But it was like maybe a click of elevator change. Its not like my old glow planes where the tank was up front and ever min or two of flight ment it was time to retrim the pitch and roll.

Being a mostly electric guy its kind of a steep learning curve for me self. On an electric you have all your power in the first couple of min of flight and then it does down. With gas as the tank gets empty the plane seems to make more power.

Actually, much more than a servo...a gallon of gasoline weighs 6.73 pounds, so even a one pint tank (16 fluid oz.) weighs approximately .7591 pounds (12.1456 ounces) , which is substantially more than a servo. A Hitec HS-7955TG weighs in at 2.29 ounces.

very true. i think the important thing is with regards to CG, and if you account for the distance the servo moves from pull-pull to push-pull, it becomes very close if not in favor of the servo. for example, if the tank is say 6 inches (an extreme case) from the CG, and the fuel weights 12oz, then that would be a moment equal to 72 oz*in. A 2 oz servo that is maybe a yard away (again, a guess as i am not aware of the actual distance, but im guessing about half of the wingspan) then that would give you 72 oz*in as well. So in essence they are very very close and both a very important factor when it comes to CG

What is the typical non-sale price of the Hitec HS-7955TG? It looks like it's $119.99 but I've found it for $93.99 at Servocity which it says is a sale price but Hobbyking has it for $89 without mentioning a sale. I'm planning on building a 74" Edge in Feb or so but if these are sale prices I might not see again I'm willing to buy them now. Thanks.

Those prices are exactly the same that I came up with in searching for a deal on the servos.

I just ordered a set of four HS-7955TG along with a 74" Edge straight from the 3DHS web page. The bundled deal results in a discounted price per servo of just a hair under $90, and there's no additional shipping cost involved.

OK, question. Ive been flying my Edge on 8S 4000 and 18x8 for a while with 7 minute flights and recently switched to 6S 5000 20x10 and like it much more. Locks into every maneuver better. Now, I'm flying 7 minutes like before and putting about 3300 back into the 5000 pack. Could I fly to 8 minutes since I have 1700 left in packs or is that pushing it to close ? Thanks !!
