Next SBSS Speaker 11/9 on Oblique Wing
Announcing our Next Speaker at South Bay Soaring Society
The Future of the Oblique Wing and other Aeronautic Topics. Plus a Build and Fly Contest with Prize
by Tom Gregory
November 9th 7:15pm, Saratoga Fire Station
Tom started his career as a researcher at NASA Ames and got very involved with the oblique wing concept. Tom and his colleagues even built a 22 foot wingspan radio controlled model of the oblique wing which is now in the Smithsonian Institution's collection. Eventual Tom became the Chief of the Advanced Vehicles Concept Branch at NASA Ames where he continued to lead oblique wing research and development.
During this talk, Tom will also cover some, basic hands on information about aeronautics include balance and trim that he used in teaching senior cadets at the USAF Academy. All in all we should all leave a little smarter thanks to Tom and his great career in the interesting field of aeronautical research.
Breaking News: he is even planning a build and fly contest with a prize.
