Pico Tiger Moth using Firefly motor?

I broke the gearbox on my Pico Tiger Moth by GWS. I have a Astro Firefly motor geared 4:1 with a Gunther 5x4 prop, that has never been used. I bought it at the AMA show maybe 8 years ago, put it away and forgot it. While looking for a replacement GWS gearbox I found the Firefly!

Just wondering if it has the thrust on 2 cells to pull the Tiger Moth around.

Thanks, Steve

Steve,

This thread would suggest that the answer is no.

I've found that a little outrunner of around 19g with a current draw of maybe 6a gives great slowfly performance and duration.

Hope this helps.

I also doubt very much that the Astro Firefly will handle a PTM. The Firefly is good for up to a 4-ounce airplane; the Tiger Moth is much heavier than that.

I have tons of GWS IPS motor parts, if you want to fix your gearbox.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm building a simple "stick" type plane for the Firefly. I'll go brushless for the PTM, I'm sick and tired of gearboxes. Is there a specific BL motor recommended for "scale like" performance?

or this

depending on how scale you want the performance.
