The wing is ready to fly. The rest of the plane needs some more work to be finished.

Does MMT do a samurai lay-up? Is this the Standard weight wing? Also whats the average wing weight for a Standard wing? Have a fuse and just ordered a standard layup and trying to figure out what the materials are and weight of the standard wing. Thanks in advance!

They stopped using the 80g/m2 TEXTREME. My wing pictured is made from 70g/m2 Samurai fabric.. Just going by what the guys at MMT tell me

I was thinking the same thing, but then remembered that there is a 24K ST Samurai fabric available now:

Visually quite similar to Textreme, handling properties fairly different though as it has no binder.

John,
MMT can accommodate many layups. They are always willing to try something new. In fact, I have a new ST layup wing coming tomorrow, which is made from a newly released 43gsm ST fabric. My wing is a prototype and is considered a "standard" layup but since it uses a higher quality carbon, its stiffness should be better than the original standard layup. Here are some pictures that Mattias sent a while back. Mattias said the wing was just under 124gr yet stiffer than the standard layup. That is about the same weight (maybe a little less) than the standard layup, but even stiffer. I am looking forward to getting it in the air and feeling it on launch. Should be a nice one!

I stand corrected! I had only heard of the 1k Samurai until now. It does look just like Textreme, but with no binder it sounds like it'd be a beast to work with.

Damn, that is some über sexy unobtanium. You can't buy that fabric through normal channels right now...makes for an amazing looking wing that's for sure! Rock solid stiff Mmmm I'm jealous.

Brandon, reading between the line on Oxeons website the 43 g fabric still has binder, it'd be the same weight as Vlad without.

43gsm ST layup

Just got my new Polaris together. The wing was a new layup using the new 43gsm ST. This layup is a bit lighter and should be stiffer than the traditional standard layup, but we will see how it handles. The wing came out to 124gr before any gear, and after build-out the AUW of the plane at 67-68mm CG is 264gr or 9.3oz. I plan to fly this at the JEM so we will see how it does then.

I outfitted this one with an MKS 65K on elevator, 2s 350mAh lipo, 2A MKS regulator, 2 Hyperion DS09 on the wing, and all driven by FASST. Super happy with the results!

Thank MMT! You did it again!

Flight report following the JEM.
