I believe RCPC here on the groups has experience with both gliders. Most recently the Polaris. Maybe Paul will chime in.

Jens, are you currently flying the TII? Have you compared to other gliders like SALpeter, Concept CX2?? Curious as to your opinion.

The Polaris is every bit as good as the Twister 2, T2 is a great glider moves and floats well I have been flying them for a year now. The Polaris I beleive is a better plane in dead air, and ranges well from what I can tell so far. I am still learning the Polaris but it seems to be the most stable DLG I have flown. I also had a Stobel V2 which is a great glider, I would fly any of the three and think I could win contests. What I like most about the Polaris over the others is that if I get in a midair I don't have to worry as much about needing top go to a backup, also easy of repair. You can't go wrong with this glider.

Yes, have been flying T2 for 1½ year now and I'm absolutely satisfied just got a new one today, compared to what I saw at the worlds, the difference between the topplanes aren't that big, it's more what one preferre pr. conditions.

I will take a picture for you.

I measured in 1" from the top and bottom trailing edge of the fin and drew a straight line. I cut through the top of the fin, down to within about 3/4" of the bottom. I sliced from one side only, and cut only through one skin and the foam to, but not through the other skin. I chose to make the hinge on the left side of the fin. Not sure if this is best or not, just what I chose. Even though I did not cut through the outer skin, the glass can't be relied upon as the only hinge material. So I added a layer of tape. My only concern is that there may be some tendancy for that outer skin to delaminate. I will watch this, and add some CA "nails" if necessary to secure the skin and prevent delamination.

By CA "Nails" I mean that I would poke small holes in the fin and rudder along the hingeline about 1/8" offset, and soak with CA so that the skin/foam bond has some depth to it so to speak.

Hope this helps for now.

The early am air at Eldo is unreal. If you don't get 3min, something is amiss!
just remember that is only before the first round. Once the contest starts the magic air is usually gone...

Thanks for posting the pictures Mike.
