My scorpion is the fiberglass g10 version I got from eBay. I suspect both the plastic and g10 are concurrently being produced, just sold through different dealers with different price point.

Some comments have suggested the cheapest HK version is fiberglass, but also suggested that it is very heavy? Mine came off ebay some time ago and was one of the nylon ones with the "soak off" paper sort of skin on the parts.

Is it stable with this configuration ?
What battery do you use ?

I am keep on working with Quad X - 30A, similar motors - a bit smaller but 1200kV, props 8x4 battery 4S 3300 - when is heavier (using 4S instead of 3S) feels better and stable. I'm not using full throttle because I'm a rookie ...

It dried my battery after ... 4-5 minutes ...

I am using 6 of the Kda20-22L motors and 10x4.7 propellers on 3 cells. Good combination with plenty of reserve power. The idea is that the Y6 will still happily fly if one motor stops working for whatever reason, allowing a safe landing with my precious camera. I get pretty good flight time with a 3300, or 5000mAh battery.

Invaluable tool. So far it has been very accurate for me (compared to real world results). Just plug in your data. If your motor is not already listed, you can probably look up the numbers here http://www.progressiverc.com/media/p...ess_Motor.html or do a Google/RCGroups search. I personally aim for hover @ around 50-60% throttle, although the calc will say you're OK all the way up to 80%.

Cheers,
-Max

single rotors...?

I'm new to this multi-rotor thing but it has really peaked my interest. Way better than fixing and setting up r/c helicopters....and less expensive in a crash. I have a question...:

I want to use the electronics from this:

http://thequadman.com/DJI-450-Bind-F...-dji450BNF.htm

minus one esc and 1 motor.

Will it work with this scorpian frame without any weight issues....? BTW I want to use single propellers only not the double ones everybody else is using.

The quad you are showing the link to, has a KK board that should fly a Y6 or if you want to reduce the number of motors, a Y4. For some control over yaw, you will need to be able to tilt the rear motor (not easy on this frame), or use a pair of motors back there with counter rotating propellers. The KK will control yaw this way. Power should be adequate for the scorpion frame on 10x4.5 propellers and 3 cell battery.
I would not consider the scorpion frame easy to repair, or overly durable.

hmmm

Thank you for the good info. The main reason why I wanted to use the scorpion frame was the looks of it. The other reason was I can't find anywhere online that sells some kind of "fuselages" for these things.I'd would so love to stick a 450 size heli fuselage on it but I'm thinking maybe making my own heli fuselage out of some kind of light foam..like the kind you use for insulating the outside of your house, would be a better idea. Any thoughts...?

I liked this air frame so much that I have two of them on the way. I am going to turn it into a hex, add a level or two, reconfigure the landing gear and throw about 280 LEDs on it. I'll be using the 8 channel LED outputs on the Rabbit FC connected to 8 relays to run the LEDs. It should be interesting.

Hey Pnoy

Can you take a picture of how your landing feet attach to the legs and post? I like the double feet on the Y650 looks like they add to the stability of the aircraft.

Thanks,
Chuck
