I just received my Y650 kit from hobbyking. All the hardware was there and not a single piece of instructions.

Thanks alot HK.

Also got the KK 2.0 controller board and a few props. 12x4.5 and 10x4.5 I think.

I'm sure I'll figure it out. Maybe saving a few trees is a good thing.

well the Scorpion is complete and ready for PC Programming! Wow! What a project it was, and it was really a lot of fun to build. Here are photos of the completed machine and also of the Quad that I have been learning on.

Both copters have the DJI NAZA MC and the DJI NAZA GPS System. really looking forward to getting it into the air. I will post the results!

I have built a HK Y650 with the KK2.0 board. I did a build thread that you can follow. Here is the link. (http://www.multikopter.co.uk/forum/t...-build-thread/). Let me know if you have any questions I can help with.

Hey Rob,

The Scorpion looks great!
Have fun flying it.

From my experience, buy a couple of extra tails.

Haha... this is funny. The tail is mangled on mine. I just let it flop around.

Thanks Chuck,

I have had it up a couple of times! I am still doing some fine tuning with the programming.
I am going to try and post some video of it flying, when I figure out to do it!

Rob

P.S. Yep! Understand the tail deal! I have already made repairs to it. I will certainly order a couple more.

Hey TWWD, I was searching the threads regarding the scorpion, I purchased one and have got it together. I am using a Naza with GPS, 2217-9/950KV motors and 10x47 props. I cant get mine to hover, it goes all or nothing. I cant get it to hover, then the smart shut off keeps the props going and of course that doesn't do well for props.

Have you had successful flights, and what is your set up as far as props and motors. I know I have the power to take off. but the hover is impossible. I have a Hex that fly's perfectly. Any help would be appreciated

It needs to be so that when it is turning in the indicated direction it is biting the air and winding upwards toward the sky. Swap your motor wires around until the rotation matches what you need.
Nornal propellers go anticlockwise and reverse propellers go clockwise.

Hope this all makes sense.

Hello Kaz1104, I was reading through the posts trying to find some help with my Scorpion, I cannot get it to hover, its either all or nothing. I read your post about the prop set up and had mine set the same way. It has plenty of power but I cant seem to control it. Im using a Naza as my controller. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hey doneod1. I don't use a naza controller but they all operate pretty similar. What do you mean by all or nothing?. If the y6 leaps into the air and height is very hard to control it sounds like your gains are set way too high. Cut your P and I gains in half on roll, pitch and yaw and start working up from there. If it wanders around all over the place it is maybe self level calibration or uncalibrated esc's. If it wobbles it is gains too high also. If it immediately flips it is usually motors plugged into the wrong output, uncalibrated esc's, wrong motor rotation, or wrong propeller. Maybe post a video of what it does in flight would help diagnose?.

Extreme vibration can cause some odd symptoms also. Balance propellers as best you can.
Your combination of 950kV motors and 10x4.7 propellers should be good for 3 cell battery, and will work well for this Y6.
