It's advertised for warbirds, probably 800mm WS. That motor is 1000 kv and you want to use an 8X6 on a heavy model like Mosa 2? The motor looks to be 400 size, 28mm diameter. Can you weigh it and tell us the weight? 300 watts but probably with 4S and 10" prop.
It's looking doubtful.

The mentioned motor looks like a 450 size outrunner, it's a 1000KV one as said by its tech note, in my idea you need to apply full throttle more often, if it's 300W indeed, to power your Formosa II. And always use a prop 10 x 6 and 3S 1500 - 2200mAh 25C lipo with this motor for better performance. I'd suggest using a setup of 480 size or bigger one instead for making Formosa II more spirited.

p.s. Its tech note suggest using this motor on GWS warbirds, the 36" span ones, rather than Formosa II.

i email integy and this is what they said

Please check to see if you are installing it on park flyer size airplane like the GWS slow stick or GWS type war bird. If that's the case, most people use 3S LiPo pack with approx. 2200mAh capacity. For prop. size, use 8x4 and never more than 9x6 depending on weather conditions. Make sure the motor and ESC receive sufficiency cooling, do not let them overheat and they'll last a long time.

Says is a 300W, more than enough power... I would try at least a 10x6.
Under powered is really hard to fly.

I would use a more powerful motor - at least a Power 10 (375 watts), but probably a power 15 (575 watts). I think a 480 is still a bit too small

I am using an Eflite Power 10 on my 47" Techone Swift - similar in size and weight to the Mosa 2 - with an APC 11 x 5.5 prop and 2200 mah 3s batts and it flies very, very well.

I had Mosa 2 with a power 25 on it and that plane was not overpowered. I will use a power 15 on the next one , though

Arnav - have you flown your Mosa 2 yet?

Wolfe, how you've been? We missed you... Good to have you back... It feels like you didn't stop by in ages (which means like 2 days? ) Have you been flying? I hope all is well.

Yes, I did (see here). Thanks for all the help!

Heya Arnav,

Wow you did a nice job on that plane - sounds like you got off to a good start with her - good for you.

Yes, i have been flying quite a bit - mostly my Techone Swift lately - flies a lot like the Mosa 2

Haven't posted on the GWS thread too much since I have yet to rebuild my new Mosa 2 and the Mosa 1 also needs some repairs so I haven't been flying GWS planes much lately.

I am really glad to hear you like the Mosa and had a good maiden

Hi Dbar,

Underpowered plane can still fly okay. If you are using 8x6, it will give you good speed; for more thrust, try 9x5 prop.
Like other fellows said, 2200mah 3s battery with at least 20C rating will give you better performance, aka better thrust and better speed.
Bench test on your prop/battery combo before flying, mainly to see if ESC can handle your combo at full throttle without getting too warm. Once airborne, the actual load on current and ESC will be lower than static test. If your combo makes ESC a bit too warm, make sure ESC cooling is good. Never had a mosa 2, but I modified my GWS 190 by opening cooling channels in the front and back of battery compartment, also drilled cooling holes at the belly of rear fuse. It is not necessary as I flew her most at 2/3 throttle, around 30 A and 300W. Mosa 2 should be at this weight range, so 300 W should be sufficient.

Good luck with your maiden!

Pretty surprise to see TP 2408-21 in the list! It would run 15 A at 3s with 7x5 or 8x4 prop, under 200 Watts! Guess for sport flying and light build, one can get away with 200W for Mosa 2

Wolfe, Thanks! I share my success with you. The Mosa 2 recommendation was all you... I would have never found out about this airplane had you not told me about it.... I love it. Can't wait to go again this weekend.
