I really like my Islander.....so nice to fly and does a nice scale take-off/landing. And to think I was gonna spend twice the money for a UM Mosquito....This thing flies twice as long too. Up to 20 minutes....

Thanks...
I was able to change the order to the Islander with the 300 motors and include some Foam-Tac glue also.

The Islander with the 300H motors (H for higher voltage) is what I was looking for but the 300 will be fine on 2S batts.

Thanks, Bart

Hi Bart,

This page will tell you more about brushed 300, 300H and others.
http://www.gwsus.com/english/product/MOTOR/MOTOR.HTM
If I recall it correctly that 300H was for the old GWS helicopter dragonfly, it draws less current than 300, while 300 outputs a little more torque than 300H.

Re: Islander BN2

Been reading on the GWS forum about the Islanders nosing up rather severely on T.O.
Any info or experience with that?

Never had this happen on mine. I could imagine that if the motor cowlings weren't secured, they could flex under full power and let the motors bend upwards, giving that effect. If you build it stock, GWS say to screw the motors to the flimsy plastic cowlings and then glue the cowling to the wing. I strengthened mine up with a little balsa brace glued from the motor to the wing, and all has been well.

davylah...

Your BN2 is the nicest I've seen, congrats!
In looking through the full scale planes I haven't seen a better paint scheme. Most are worse than the included GWS decals.
Our county has a BN2 mosquito control plane that's camouflaged
Not copying that one.

Thanks man, I'm glad you like it. That camo Islander sounds interesting, is that so the mosquitos don't see it coming?
I used Airliners.net to look for colour schemes, and found a couple of British Airways Islanders had been given the special tail colours. I managed to find a Microsoft Flightsim Boeing 747 to download which had been repainted with the same fin, so I just extracted the j-peg texture file from it, and resized it to fit the fin of my Islander. Then I printed it out on waterslide paper and slid it on!

I made motor mounts from lexan and bolt the cowls over the lexan to the motors. still some flex, little vibration too. I haven't glued mine on since I may make a seaplane out of mine. this plane flies a little tail heavy but nothing that any pilot shouldn't be able to handle. It's is a joy to land cuz of that. But take-offs are really nice with a little touch of up elevator. Flies very scale like.

Back to the Mosa1

This evening there was no wind. I have been trying to trim my new Mosa to fly like my first one. The new one has been a little jerky.
Having only one aileron servo and thus no individual trims I manually set the ailerons a few degrees lower than the TE of the wing.
This made the Mosa super steady and now a joy to fly.

I also did the canopy clip update mod and now no more lost canopies.

Even though I installed steerable nose gear, the low thrust makes it very difficult to take off from ground. Believe it or not, I actually handlaunch and land it with gear. The light-weightness makes it riskfree handlaunching.

Pretty scale flying, handling light wind very well, turning pretty easy. I was always tempted to show off by diving and loop/roll, risking all the bombloads
Just got a chance posting the flight video of my GWS B-2. She flew pretty stable despite the light breeze. Even did some barrel rolls and loops, after diving of course.
