Howz 'bout the old AGM-28 "Hound Dog" missile?

A UMX version would truly be a "guided missile" ....<*ba-DUM-bum pssshhh!*> Plenny room for an EDF in there:

How about a Lockheed D-21? Plenty of room for EDF plumbing, and you don't even need a pilot figure.

Hmm...this one might actually be do-able, even w/ that severe anhedral and lack of wing area (I'm really dating myself here )...

For me the key words are; "want to fly". Most of the birds mentioned are curiosities, and while interesting not something I would make room in my hangar for.

22" wingspan Stearman
Tigercat F7F

Where are we at as far as "doability" with UM EDFs?

I know Joe Malinchak built up this awesome wee MiG 15...but that's not really viable production-wise I guess:

Still.....getting close?

Bud,

I'm thinking our little 2s packs would come up a bit short in that app! I'd love to see a UMX Buff, though. My brother flew 'em in 'Nam, then went on to become a CFIC instructor-pilot. (Yup, he taught the teachers.) He was one of the few (along with the other CFIC instructors) who were authorized to perform the WHIFF maneuver. Retired as a full-bird Colonel after 30 years.

Gonna have to throw my vote in for a Folland Gnat. I always liked this little plane. That and of course still asking for a F7F

This is, after all, the stylistic ancestor of the Gee Bee. Not to be confused with Dumbo the flying elephant who had no propeller. : )
