It's got higher rpm so potentially higher top speed (which you don't need to use of course) but also a larger prop shaft so less chance of bending it.
Bolts right up to the stock RJ motor mount as well.
Yes, i wanted that motor but its not in stock at usa warehouse... and from china my small parts orders take around 6 weeks... that motor from hobbypartz is really rated for 3s...it is a miss print ..guys run it on 3s and it stays cool...I get orders in 5-7 days from HP...thx

Don's wicked outrunners come in 2700kv or 3000kv. I had ordered the 2700kv but got the 3000kv by mistake, and didn't realize it until it was already mounted to the plane. But I just use a apc 4.7x4.2 and it works great. The 2700kv you can use a 5x5 or 5.5x4.5.

Well I just my PNP kit and started the build I've flown helis and had a good few months on a wing which i enjoy so hoping i can fly this.

I plan on using 1300 amp nano and stock set up I could do with some advice of best cg etc and any other tips.
I have done a search but with over 800 post and 65 pages I'm hopeless.

Hi Streetluge Chris and a very big welcome to RC Groups. You will be hard pressed to find a more helpful group of foam basher's and abusers than right here. I think I've already answered this question for another member
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...&postcount=778 but I'm others will chime in.
One mod to the stock set up is to swap the bundled prop for a 6x4 one. The esc & motor can cope and it improves performance

CG front edge of finger groove
Sandpaper in finger groove
Shorten motor shaft
Make sure prop is on right way
Mix rudder to aileron
Extra up trim on flap switch (normal position on DX-7}
Throw level, full throttle

Thanks gents .
I have 6x4 prop as that's a spare for my wing.
I guess the set up is delta in Dx7 same as wing?
Can you explain this

That motor did say 11.1v.... 3S
You can usually even get away with more volts than quoted, but need to keep the Amps and total Watts within reason of specs. (Not that you want to)
That motor seems a pretty close match to the stock motor really.

Yes it is,but its a bit larger in length and diameter has a thicker drive shaft and maybe heavier as well...i plan on staying with 1300 3s..thx

I'm close to finishing the build now but so far only managed to read 30 pages of posts still long way to go.

Can someone explain what reflex and deflection are about in terms of setting up the Radjet.
How would set up the Radjet using Dx7.
I know I have to use delta setting for mixing
But what hole for the throw ?
As a guide what rates and expo would be starting point .
Is it worth taping the nose for those bad landings.
Is there anything else I need to do.
Thanks

Chris -
Radjet is much more responsive in roll than pitch so if the DX7 allows for multiple elev and aileron rates (my DX8 has switches for 3 setting on each) I'd start with:
ail: 75% DR, 30% expo
elev: 100% DR 30% expo

My DX8 is now with Horizon for some warranty work (rudder trim switch stopped working) so I can't check the exact settings but think I had a "mild" setting with 60% DR on ail, "medium" at 80% and "crazy fast rolls" (which I never use) at 100%.
30% expo or so on all settings worked for me.
It's nice to have 100% throw on elevator in case you need to pull up with max effect.

Think I started with the linkages on the hole second from the furthest.

I beefed up the nose of my 1st radjet with carbon fiber, which protected it from a few minor crashes but not the final, high speed spearing into the earth...
Tape won't hurt but it won't do much to protect the nose in any kind of crash. The plastic belly pan works quite well IMO.

These are the settings I observe on my DX-7
I have the control linkage in the outer most hole on both ends, stock horns and servo arms

Tape the nose after the bad landings.

Gohmer - 70% and 100% expo?

I've never used anything over 50% expo, and that is on my WingWing's elev because it pitches like crazy, much moreso than the Radjet.

50% D/R on elev in Pos 1: from what I remember from a few months ago Radjet needs all the elev throw it can get to respond in pitch.
Which setting do you normally fly with?

Just trying to help Chris. Sure don't want to argue with you about it.

Lots of flights on both of my RadJets. I like the way these settings work.
