Maidened the Rad last weekend. Actually, our tradition is to have another club member do the maiden. I filmed. I soloed on the second flight and after getting the expos set correctly, she flew very smooth. The stock setup was okay but had me wanting for more. Ran it with a 1650 3s 30c nanotech.The prop they give you is flimsy so I went and bought a couple fo APC 5.5's Try again this Sunday. Thinking this will be better. Want to throw at 4S at it. Which one do you recommend for the stock version that will fit?

The hard core ,modded-out HK Skyfun guys at the field were impressed with the speed potential.

My first entry into the speed world so I'm not quite ready to take the leap into a bigger motor/esc combo but can see doing this sooner rather than later once I get the hang of it.

I see HK has raised the price. Must have gotten popular.

Congrats Hawk! Strange tradition at your field. I dont think I would ever want anyone else to maiden one of my planes.

I cant tell you what size 4s to install without cutting some foam. I used a 4s 2200 pack and chopped a lot of foam out. The entire battery went into the fuse. I agree about the prop.

I see HK has just released a MINI radjet!! like it wasnt small enough already lol

I like the rad jet 420mm intake and outlet for airflow, I wish they would do that for the bigger size. The smaller size is 59.95 for the pnp, and the bigger size is 54.95 for the bnf???

holy cow, that is crazy. and yes, those vent holes need to be put on the larger radjet.

for anyone in the states who has been looking at getting the Turnigy 2836 motor, check this out. looks like the same motor for the same price really, but here in the states and a 1 year warranty on it....

Flew the Radjet on the usual 4S 1300mah batts this morning but with 5.5x5.5 - getting slightly better speed than with the 6x4 - 84mph according to rcspeedo. It seems to spin better and smoother too which I admit may just be a better balanced prop. Great morning for some park flying - no wind.

A 4 cell is only getting you 84mph??

I've been looking for a small 4s that will fit inside the fuse or maybe go to 1600 or 1800 3S for longer flight times. Is the 4S 1300 a nano tech? I could take the turtle back off and slip a slim Zippy 2200 in there I suppose.

Maidened mine this AM, stock, with a 1000mah lipo.

I am going to have to auger out some foam going back, as the CG was too far forward even with my lipo pushed up against the back of the gear area. Full up/back elevator gave me just enough "up" to use my throttle to maintain altitude. Once I get CG sorted out, I think it will be a fun flyer.

Also, what is the consensus on an APC 6x4E with stock ESC & motor? Good combo or will it fry the ESC? I busted a prop and have a couple APC 6x4Es on hand.

I busted off part of the "wingtip tanks" and will slice them both off. No need for them that I can see.

You will get increased vertical,,but not much increase in speed. The 5x5 seems to be the way every one is going.

Its a Turnigy 20-30c 1.300mah 4S. They always come out pretty warm so I think I should have got 40-50C discharge batts, but they are OK. I'm just using the standard motor.
