My Zii is going well with the building stage, but at this time, I do not have all the funds for the FPV gear. I want to just fly the Zii with the GoPro and just get used to flying her.

My question is, is the lam easy to pull back off for when I want to install the FPV gear at a later date? Or do I just cut out where I want to fit the gear, and lam over the top of the cutouts?

Thanks guys

where to measure the aileron resp. elevator throws?
at the end of the elevons near the winglets or at the hinge?

i always measure towards the outside of the wing...

10mm + and 10mm - for elevator 13mm + and 13mm - for ailerons.... I put the wing on the floor like it's flying and put a a ruler on the ground vertically and measure that the trailing edge of the elevons moves those measurements

For my clarification when you measure the aileron travel of +/- 13mm are you just moving the stick full left and full right or are you moving it on a diagonal from the center position?

I am still making setup adjustments and have the same +/- 10mm for the elevator and +/- 10 for the aileron but that measurement increases to almost +/- 20mm when I combine both elevator and aileron control.

All those dimensions are when I am using my Hi rate. They are smaller when I switch to my Lo rates.

Really top notch job on the Burly ZII. Looks like a stealth tank.

I also like the Ritewing decals on the elevons. Let me know how to order a half dozen of them so I can spread the word on who makes these fantastic wings. Thanks

Even 5 to 8 clicks up from neutral wont get you in trouble usually.
I also do never use expo , I lower the rates , it makes your flights much more smooth .
I usually do a higher rate for fatser speeds , and lower it 10 % for lower speeds .
I have flown thumbs in the past and now fly pinch with two fingers, this has made a huge improvement in flight, it makes me fly much more smooth and true.
I feel more in control , I dont chase the plane , I am in control.

You wife would laugh at you if you tried to touch her with just your thumbs, but two fingers will make her much more happy. You dont point with your thumb m you dont pull a trigger with your thumb, why would you fly a precise plane with only your thumb???

anyway, i'm not sure what lowering rates would accomplish I actually don't understand higher level RC well at all, but so many RC nuts are using expo like me.

if the full range of the stick goes from 0 to the 10mm or 13mm spots.. what would lowering rates do? I understand expo makes it smooth in the center of the stick but then theres a huge jump if you need to make a big maneuver.. is it not actually more precise? just makes it move slower but at bigger steps?? lets say, like just chopping a video from 30fps to 15fps?

lowering rates does it give you less throw?, you get more resolution?? so you do that first then your end points??
