1/12 Scale RC cars

Hello. I need to find several 1/12 scale RC cars for a project. I need six of seven of them. They should be faithful recreations of their real counterparts, preferably on road race cars. I've been looking and I've found tons of 1/10 scale cars, but I have not been very lucky finding 1/12 scale cars. Any idea where I can find some? Thanks.

What kind of cars? It should be pretty easy to find 1/12th scale pan cars, but they won't be overly realistic looking bodies.

I've seen the pan cars but, as you say, they are not very realistic looking. I'm looking for scale versions of real race cars, no race cars in particular but a Nascar would be nice, maybe a stadium truck as well as some touring cars. It is for creating a wind tunnel lab for a fluid mechanics class.

Well if it's just for FDA you might try some of the Static Scale sites, though you will have better luck at 18th scale, 1/12 will be hard to find & expensive when do.

If no RCs are found then I will consider some static scale cars. The thing is, I need to be able to remove the body from the chassis to be able to put some stuff in there. Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you want only the bodies or actually 6-7 1/12th rc cars..coz.. if it's for a wind tunnel testing setup, I'd think a mock chassis mounting the bodies would be sufficient.

For bodies, check out the bodies from ABC hobby USA, the mini bodies should be 1/12th scale (or very close) if I'm not mistaken.

ABC hobby USA seems to have several 1/12 scale cars, thanks a lot for the tip SporadicIdiocy!!!!

I'll also look into smaller scales, what is a common scale? 1/16th, 1/18th?

If you want realistic scale bodies, 1/16 and 1/18 ones aren't going to cut it. The ones I see around look squished and widened to fit the chassis they're on.

You might wanna go even smaller in scale and look into X-Mod or Mini-z bodies, as they are made of hard plastics they can be made with far more realistic details and scale than lexan bodies.

Here's some for Mini-z

Depending on the air speeds you plan to use, lexan bodies might just wobble and distort too much as well.
