I have definitely noticed that hovering is easier with my CG back as far as I can get it. But I can't do anything close to what he did... that was pretty cool!

At best I can get about 4-5 torque rolls in but I'm basically at the whim of the airplane - all I can do is just try my best to hold it there and see how long she will roll before falling out.

New ??

I know E-FLITE batterys don't have the best rep here, but they now have a 200 ma 25c, 2 cell., 5A max .
Appears to have the same connector.

That's the one they made for the Stryker. It's definitely better. I use it in the Sbach too and it does well. Really, my only complaint with it is it's glacial 1C charge rate. I love my 5C charge rate batteries.

Rud,

It also comes with the Gee Bee. My Hyp 240s are still noticeably stronger in the Gee Bee, but there's not as much difference as there was with the old Eflite packs. The new pack is definitely better than their old UMX packs, but it still performs poorly at higher currents as compared to the less expensive Hyperion & MA UMX packs. And we already know that cycle-life will suck as compared to the Hyperions.

And then as Erkq noted - the glacial charge rate! What's up with a 1c charge rate on a 25c pack? Nowadays, true 25c packs are usually rated for 5c charging.

Holy!

I just got the GWS 5043 props I ordered through hobby town, and my onlw reaction is WOW! Balanced it out real quick with some tape, Screwed it on, and took the beast out. The vertical performance is AMAZING. The thing just keeps climbing and climbing..... Hovers are actually somewhat controllable considering I don't have to practicially floor the throttle to keep it up. about 75-80% throttle needed, with the rest giving me authority to make a semi-controlled exit. You have not lived until you've flown a 3D Beast with a 5043!

Also found that if you set the ailerons to the maximum possible control throw, you stand a fairly good chance of counteracting the torque. I actually managed to pull off 1 roll to the right though it was fairly slow. Oh, this is SWEEEEEEEET...... Can't wait till I get a few 180 Hyp packs in this thing.......

I thought the 5043s and stock motor would overload the ESC? I know 5030s were fine... but 5043s?

No the 5043 doesn't overload the esc, however on the stock motor just isn't as strong as the 2300kv and 3000kv motors so you will usually see a bigger benefit by upgrading the motor, I'd suggest the 3000kv, first. For example with my 3000kv and a 5030x3 hovers are a hair over half throttle, with the regular 5030 its even better.

Hmmm...I too thought the 5043 was too much for a stock setup... I might try this as I have some spare 5043s anyways!

It didn't overload mine, I also tried a 6030 and the 5030x3 on the stock motor. The performance wasn't the best which is why I switched to the 3000kv motor.
*note the 6030 was so far out of balance I could not get a good test.*

Well, I'm running the V1 beast motor, AKA the 2300.

The 5043 doesn't overload the ESC - rather, it's just too much for the 2500Kv motor. The 5030 outperforms the 5043 on the 2500Kv motor. The 5043 outperforms the 5030 on the 2300Kv motor. The 2300Kv motor w/5043 outperforms the 2500Kv motor with any of the props. The 3000Kv motor w/5043 shuts down the ESC. The 3000Kv motor w/5030 outperforms all of the combos above. As Brian noted, the 3000Kv motor w/5030 is by far the best power upgrade for this airframe. Keep in mind that all of these combos require top-quality packs. You won't see much, if any improvement with the stock or lower-quality Chinese packs. Also keep in mind that flight-time will be considerably shorter with the 3000Kv motor & the 5030 or 5x3x3 than it would be with the 2300Kv motor & 5043.

Yeah, I'm noticing my flight times are pretty bad. Can only maintain about 4 mins in the air with my Eflite 120 pack. Uugh. I REALLY need some Hyps.....

Okay...I have a 5030 I am going to try on the stock motor this weekend. Too bad it's orange in color...

I really love this plane, it is my new favorite! It was a little windy yesterday but I still flew it through my cul de sac. It was fun landing it, at times nearly standstill with the wind! When the cross winds started to affect my landings more, I just brought her in with more speed and I was pleased with perfect landings every time. Love this thing!

I almost pulled the trigger on the Gee Bee, but the over current issue makes me want to wait until they sort that out...

Pete,

I haven't needed to do this, but I think I've read that others use a black sharpie on the orange props. I'm with you - orange and red really clash

with the 3000kv motor and a 120 pack you'd get less than 3min!
