I used the OrangeRX R415 Spektrum receivier.

It does not come with a bind plug but all you need to do is temporarily connect the two bind posts together with a wire while you bind it to the Champ tx.

The Champ tx does not have expo so the plane reacts a bit twitchy but is completely flyable if you do small movements on the sticks.

The plane fly's great but I do not suggest a beginner go from the Champ to the Slick. The PZ UM T-28 is a good in between plane.

The Champ Tx does have low rates though by pushing down on one of the sticks.
That should help a lot.

I personally think that's bad advice, especially on a plane with good control authority. The problem with the toy transmitters is that you cannot set rates on surfaces differentially. I've nearly lost a couple birds because I couldn't pull enough G's (for lack of a better term) to pull up.

You can run super low rates on these planes with no problem at all.
They are way too sensitive to maiden at full rates for an average pilot.
Was for me anyway.
Just my opinion though.

EDIT - Will the Champ Tx give Ail control? Don't like the idea of no Ailerons.

I've gotten to the point where I won't fly on low rates. That's just me, though. I'd sooner dial in a ton of expo.

I like to start low and work up as I gain experience with the planes.
Can't stand a twitchy maiden flight trying to trim out.

About to pick up one of these slick Slicks... do these servos plug straight into the R415, or did you need adapter cables?

To anyone - what are the receiver options out there that have mating sockets for the servos on the V2? Seems like the AR6310 is the wrong pitch

The R415 is the best choice. Cheap and works great. Servos plug right in, no adapters required.

I was going to say basically the same thing but then wondered if he just has a different Tx.

P.S. - HK just came out with the OrangeRx/Gyro combo.
Would it not be awesome as heck to get a micro combo?
Would love to fly this plane with a gyro.

Thanks guys, I had browsed the thread and thought I saw somewhere that someone used adaptors to hook up the R415. Looking back at it now, I think it was just extensions. Bought a R415 from someone on here, which actually arrived yesterday. Just starting to put her together now.

I did have one problem with it - the motor sounded very rough turning it by hand. After taking everything apart, I found that one of the magnets had popped loose. It was a simple fix - pick out the glue residue, put back in place, and flow a bit of thin CA over it. I've only dry fit the parts and hooked up the electrics so far, motor seems to work fine and all the servos move, so we're off to a good start

Those of you with the v2 (or using 3s), are you holding the battery down with velcro, or just allowing the canopy to hold the battery? I have a v2 and just had to sand a good bit off the bottom of the front canopy tab so that I could even install it over the battery. If I need to add velcro underneath and thus remove more off of the canopy, there won't be much of a tab left.

Can somebody help me to tell where I need to putt the 3s 180mah lipo in this small handsome slick v2 version. Do I user the same place (front between the wing) just like the 2S version or do I need it to slide it in the front under the motor-hood because there is a opening were the 3s 180mah seems just to fit in...
