HK DuraFly Micro Slick 360 2S - Official Thread

Hi Guys,

This is Dean from HobbyKing, boy have I had the itchy thumbs to press the "post" button on this thread.

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...%5FPNF%5F.html

When the idea of the DuraFly Slick 360 Micro plane was conceived I wanted a hardcore micro 3d'er that one up'ed all the competition but didnt break the bank, because I like to crash alot. I chose the Slick 360 design because the prototype version of the full-scale plane has a very tall fuselage/canopy that was just screaming "Knife Edge Harrier me please".

Anyways, Alot of love went into the development of this plane and no corners were cut in the designing and electronics. I can go on and rant and rave about how awesome it is but I will let the pics and video's speak for itself.

PNF Includes;
Turnigy AP05-3000kv motor ( popular upgrade motor used on other micro's)
4-Digital micro 1.7gram real servos
Turnigy 6amp ESC
Light-weight EPS
Moulded Battery compartment
Steerable tailwheel
Nylon Aileron Hinges
Magnetic Canopy (you actually dont need to use tape)

- The box is very small for cheap shipping, all you need is a FlightMax 2S 180mah 15c li-po and a micro rx with 1.25 molux connectors, the OrangeRx R415 is compatible.

- HobbyKing is really stepping up its game with our new DuraFly Micro line and all I can say as of now is theres alot more where this comes from Please give me some feedback on this product.

Micro Slick - HobbyKing Skunkwerks Series (3 min 42 sec)

Nice to see Hobby Kings new planes are as good as, and cheaper the the E-flite planes. That Demo pilot "Extreme Dean" really shows the aircraft's capabilites. His thumbs really sell the plane. The bottom and top of that plane have a great color scheme and I noticed it was easy to follow through the fast rolls. Envalope seems wide: both fast and able to fly slow: I like that. Maybe a Yak next: hint hint.

Also thinking about buying it, but my biggest problem is:

Parts, parts, parts. Are they available anywhere? Because it does look like an awesome airplane, but crashes happen. I like to be able to get my parts easily. Even a simple spinner, but worst case, a wing, elevator, etc.... Maybe a spare fuselage kit would be nice (no electronic), just in case...

The one thing that I see would need swapping out would be the hard plastic tailwheel...put on a nice tiny (and quieter!) foam one instead. Hate that sound of hard plastic wheels on touchdown.

Big bonus for those of us who already have custom-made Eflite UMX Beast cells...with an available Beast>JST adapter, we can use our Hyperion batts in this ship also...yeh.

And...what is the prop size? I'd say perhaps GWS 5043 DDs' would work well.....?

AND....lol....is there going to be a full spare parts line produced and available?

I really like this part of Deans' above post:

"HobbyKing is really stepping up its game with our new DuraFly Micro line and all I can say as of now is theres alot more where this comes from"

This implies that this plane is merely the first in a whole new lineup!

Bud, detective Bud
Yes exactly, a 5x4.3 prop comes standard and the gws 5x4.3 prop is compatible

Also, we will have full parts support on the site for the Micro Slick in the next couple weeks.

The product is new so it hasnt had time to ship to our USA warehouse as of now we are going to send it from HK because the box is small but I dont doubt that in the future we will send some to our satellite warehouses
