Model Boat Decals

With many of us building and customizing boats I thought it might be nice to have some graphics for community access.
Here are a few sets that I have accumulated from here & there. If you have some you'd like to share, please do.

Basics would be a color printer and some clear (or opaque) decal sheets. Software to manipulate the photos is also useful. That way you can re-arrange, resize, and print only the ones you want.

Unlike vinyl graphics which normally get laminated you would also need to clear coat them after putting them on your hull.

Thanks cyber.
I just did a little manipulation and pulled some of my favorite logos off the big sheet and put them on a 8.5" x 11" layout. If there are any requests I can try to do those as well.

You can get inkjet printable waterproof vinyl decal material. Not sure just how waterproof it is when dry, but they claim it's waterproof and for outdoor use. The only other coating they recommend is a UV protective clear coat to improve the longevity of the colours, but that's more for things left outside all the time.

They also make a clear sheet, but if the finished decal has any white in it you need the white base.

Nice link.

I have done water slide ink jet decals and clear coat them - they held up remarkably well and the clear coat does not attack the ink or the decal. A vinyl decal would be even better I think. A large water slide decal is so thin it becomes hard to work with and not have it wrinkle or tear. A vinyl decal would likely solve some of those problems.

As long as we are talking decals, I have been using an online source for getting cut vinyl lettering. They have a design page to let you lay out the lettering using a variety of fonts, color, and effects and submit the order. The service is quick and I get the lettering back in just a couple days.

The site:

The layout tool:

I have been using the papilio vinyl for several years. It is far from waterproof. It needs to be clearcoated or laminated with clear film.

Yeah I remember the old Esso tiger. It was even still around when I was growing up.
I've done a couple of edf F-16's in the same scheme minus the esso decals. (it was all paint)

Not sure of what happened to yours. I've used images from all the sheets and haven't run into that problem. I'm not using a high dollar printer either. What software are you using for printing them? If you'll let me know which images from which sheet you are wanting I'll try to put them on a single sheet for you.
