New Look

New look for the sake of changing the look? Guess I don't much care about that one way or the other. Changing the look doesn't bother me, as long as the basic function remains the same.

I have been using the Beta version for a couple of days now and two things come to mind. 1) The different graphic elements need more contrast. 2) I hate the Fixed Width. Would definately prefer the current Dynamic Width.

Switched my viewing preferences back to Forum Default.

I have stopped going to Flying Giants and Crack Roll , unless I have to, for this micro width reason, I can hardly see it on my 28" monitor. Since the same guy owns all 3 sites I don't see much chance of them really paying attention to anything said here, so go buy a magnifying glass if you want to read RC groups in the future and enjoy the postage stamp format on your 28" monitor or 40" plus size tv!

Sad to say, but I thing your right. The only response so far from "Terry" was about the switching between mobile and normal mode; that should speak volumes of what the nameless and faceless "Terry" thinks of the comments here.

I'm sure it won't matter to the folks who know better, but if the change is permanent, I'm bailing over to wattflyer. Although I'm not a big fan of Jim, and the changes he made in the past, I stuck with this place as it was the original so to speak. Maybe it's time for a change.... that's up to "Terry"

Overall it seems a decent look, but the fixed width thing has to go.

Question: Is there an understanding of why it's going fixed width?

I think that would answer a lot as if it's for aesthetics/functionality I think the past few pages have shown it isn't a good change for that reason. But if there are other reasons we can understand maybe it would help to understand the reason for the change despite the aesthetic change

+1 on Fixed Width.

+1 on themes and background colors.

Is it my imagination or it there more room dedicated to advertising this way? Hmmmmm....

Thanks for all the feedback.

So far the comments seem to center on two issues:

1. The fixed width is not well-liked.
2. The old style had more contrast.

Everyone's feedback is very helpful! We're already working on improvements!

I finally switched over to wide screen monitors and now you want to go to a narrow width.

I like the old better.
