Sling launch method

In the early days of dlg (two years ago) I remember hearing of someone in europe who was using a sling arrangement to extend the diameter of the launch circle. This sling somehow hooked onto the launch peg and could be released at the end of the launch circle. As I recall, the device was outlawed in europeon competition, so it's development was not pursued.
This might be a good way to increase the launch heights of the smaller SAL's like the Bug, Bobolink, or Gambler.
Anyone else hear of this?

I swear I wrote my post DLG Version 2.0 before I read that!

... and before John moved that post to a new thread...
