Help!
Motor thrust angle on pylon racer

I cant seem to find out what the thrust angle i need on my Sokol. some people suggest about 2 degrees of down.. but do i need to put any right thrust in to counter act torque? I have a Sokol pylon racer with a MEGA 16/15/2 on an APC 4.1x4.1 prop. let me know if you ca help! thanks!

Pylon racers are happy with 0-0 for down thrust and right thrust.

knifeedge63 - I built (5) 400 class pylon racers (Slipso's) and have never put right thrust in any of them and they have flown like a "spear."
I have however put some down thrust on all of them. Do not go over 2 degrees and you should be fine. Actually I wouldn't start with anything less than 1.5. A little to much is better than not enough on the launch.
I am assuming that the Sokol is built similar in that it has zero degrees of incidence in the tail and the wing.

When I had one I used a down elevator to throttle mix to stop it from climbing.A little down thrust might cure it but it also may have had a wing-tail incidence problem that I never checked before it's demise.

One of the Slipso's I built had an incidence problem....I rushed to get the Fuz done and built a possitive incidence into the tail and a possitive incidence into the wing...shame on me. I never could get that thing to fly right and eventually crashed it trying. I fixed the wing incidence and it flew marginally. Then in order to get the diving out of it I took to much down thrust out and the last toss was the "dying chicken" stall. Was actually glad when It was gone because the thing was so frustrating.
Remember...CG...will also affect climbing or diving... especially coming out of a shallow dive.

???? I'm confused; I thought the Sokol came with the motor mount already glued in. Is this not the case? Cuz I was considering a Sokol for next year. But if it doesn't have the mount already in, I'll probably go with something else. I despise gluing in motor mounts. One of my rc buddies said that his Sokol came with the motor mount already installed.

no i bought a second hand one it didnt have a motor mount because it was crashed. By all means though, get this model!!!! It flies amazingly! tracks straighter than rails lol! i just am re-gluing the mount in place. and you literally cannot put too much power in this thing. it handles everything like its nothing.
