I wonder if he's had the opportunity to test the ARC motors as well.

I had exactly the opposite... Ended up sacrificing 3.17 adaptors and had them reamed to 4.00.

Perhaps I'm the only one over here, but the CS housing isn't that flimsy imo... The material and weight of the shroud will influence the sound, no doubt, but I'm pretty sure that the sophisticated roaring whoosh that Extreme his fan produces has more to do with the shape and dimension of the ducts and the fan being super silent...

I think the secrecy is so he can sell them. If we were all to know what to do, it'd mean less sales.

I guess if he's fried the motors to figure out what works, he might as well sell them to those who don't want to invest. It generally takes me 2 or 3 shots before I find my 'perfect' motor for each fan/plane combo, so buying a ready-done thing saves on motors!

I do agree...business is business, and its hard enough to make money out of RC these days...so good on him.

I was just having a little joke...as I find the RC community to be quite transparent with information....

I agree - particularly on RCG, most of us are just here for fun, so have no vested interest.

That said, with the information already out there on the fan, it wouldn't be hard to figure out what he used...

QUOTE=munce31;20150933]Flies fantastic beachflyer! Btw is there a difference between the SAPAC F-16 and the Phase 3 F-16?[/QUOTE]
I think the sapac is a little bigger. Flying surfaces are thinner on phase 3.
Not sure what rpms. Let me crunch some numbers.
Weighs in at 41 ounces with 4000mah 4cell nanotech.
I must say i have flown rc planes for over 35 years and
This sapac flys likes its on rails. Very nice, no bad tendancies.

It would be nice to try a aluminum fan shroud. Dont have one right now. My last shroud I had melted and I am using one I had. I dont think its as quiet as the one that melted. I had short outrunner and it couldnt stand the temp and melted itself and everything connected. I have used inrunners here at beach and found with the humidity its best for me use outrunner to keep heat down in summer.

I seriously doubt that you are anywhere near 45000. See post 266 for data on what it takes to spin it at 45000+

All I did was crunched numbers. 14 volts under load times 3300KV. I usually just let the plane do the talking.

Is 3300kv loaded or unloaded?

use volts under a load(3.5v give or take) times the motor KV..subtract 15 percent and you will be in the ballpark...so more like 39000 if your lucky

You can't do this for more than 3.5 minutes without catching your breath afterwards... Oh, and you can't stop blinking for more than 3.5 minutes... Or, try flying a jet at 120mph 3ft above runway and blink...
