Just put one of these in my little F-18 foamy. Only 2350KV on 4S and about 600 watts, but she sure sounds nice. My stock 45A ESC that came with the airplane is running a bit hotter than it did with the old 5 bladed fan, but I've got an 80A backup if it fries.

Replacement Rotor for 10 Blade 70mm Fan Unit at Hobbyking.

Maidened on the 10 blade. Amazingly quiet. I love it. It could use a bit more motor than the 5 blade though. The ESC and motor didn't get hot, so that's good. I might put a 2800kv or so motor in there and see what happens.

Hey C131, what was the performance like compared with your stock setup? Do you have the starmax/exceed f18 70MM? Are you using a 25C pack?

RC, yes, that's my airplane. I do have the 25C pack, but I was running it on a 65C pack. The pack got very hot, which makes me think it isn't really 65C since the 45 amp ESC barely got warm and the motor was cooler still...

I'm running the fan on the stock motor. It flies about the same, though it is eerily quiet. I was used to that ugly screeching noise you get on high speed low passes, and this one is just as quiet as a strong breeze. The only sound you hear is a little bit of motor (not much) and a big woosh as it goes by. I'm pretty sure flight time went down around 30 seconds or so, so it does draw more amps than the stock fan. (the stock fan is pretty chincy)

Motor is a HET 2W-30 2200kv. Although it's made from cheap epp foam, the plane is actually very stiff through the wings and tail section. I have about 40 trouble-free flights on it thus far.

Since it's designed for a 3S 5000 pack, fitting a 6S 4000mah was a breeze. Only thing I had to do was move it back a few cm's. My AUW is ~1.6kg

Congrats on keeping it at 1.6kg with 6s! thats no mean feat even with the original Panther airframes that had no add ons at all. I seem to recall mine was close to 1.6kg with a 4s4000 and the original Lander fan with wemo rotor. Of course more weight in their fan but even so well done!

Great performance on 6S!

I'm currently flying mine with a Wemo/HET 2W23 and 3000MAH 5S but wouldn't mind a little more grunt.

I have actually got a couple of 3000MAH 6S lipos which aren't doing too much at the moment.
