Is it a clearance issue? With higher speed, blade stretch and hit shroud? Or is it just the material make up?

Last night I ran another one in the shop to make sure that rotor give up over 46k rpm.
Sure enough it fail right after 46k plus.
So three out of three fail over 46k rpm.
It seen working flawless at 44.5k rpm for many flight we did.

Was there any slow start included in the motor spin up?

Everything you guys thinks of I had take that in account and tested.
Blade cut down to test that theory...still blew up blades.
Easy spool up still blew up blades..
In flight testig still blew up blades.

All that happen above 46k rpm.
So is a comfirm rotor give up above 46k rpm.
So watch out and kept it under 44.5kw with nice balance rotor you guys will had good fun with it.
I working fine tuning high effecient 2kw 6s set up to spin 43.5k RPM for every day fun flying without worry about blades blew up.
Only things left is FOD...which no one had control over FOD.

My habbit never punch throttle on turbine for EDF. So my throttle spool is very gentle.
If you listen to the first video and all my videos. You can see how I manage throttle.
I even recommending guys had bad habbit hit full throttle too soon by using throtle delay 2 second from idle to full. This help the rotor load up.

+1, difference between pitch of that vid and pitch of in flight test is notable...

Of note...

Saw evidence of turbine throwing blades....I'm sticking to EDFs for that alone...the blades that were found are razor sharp!

Data log is like the bible. You can see the graph at split second before it jump.
My left thump is very quick respond to chop the power anytime in trouble.

Good thing that happened with plenty of room to spare. Would have sucked if it happened after rotation or just past the end of the runway on takeoff.

I'm still surprised your using the Hun as a test bed with that cheap chinese EDF.

Here`s a short vid on mine on the bench. This test is with a tight fitting plywood nacelle that produces the same numbers as the stock intake ring, but has a smaller frontal area and reduced drag as a result.

The lipos were already partialy discharged for the video, but on a fresh charge a full 22.2 volts produced these numbers

22.2 volts
160 amps
3.55 kw
6lbs 7oz thrust
262 mph efflux speed
46,500 rpm

I need better lipos to get these numbers in the air, but a good 65c 6s 4000 should do the trick for some speed runs.

Here`s the video and some pics of the new nacelle.

Its ~1.6kg, not sure about thrust, but I underhand launch at 60 degrees or so and it climbs straight up.
