Getting Stupid with the CS-70-10

That`s right, STUPID fast, stupid powerful, probably just plain stupid too, but we`ll see how it holds up.

It`s powered by a Turnigy 3126 that has been rewound to 2.5 turns for aprox 2900kv (need to measure it). I added a 4" long shaft and an extra front bearing to support the longer shaft. The motor has an OD of about 37mm so it`s in the standoff position. I`m using a collet style adapter, but I`ll have to check to see which one it is. No mods to the shroud except what was needed to fit the standoff block. The rotor is bare bones stock.

Note: This is competely insane to run this $15 fan like this. Don`t do it, don`t even think about doing it. (That way I can be the only guy who has one).

Just the Facts.............

6s, 22v ( ran a 6s2p10ah battery to hold voltage)
145a......sustained
3.2 kw....""
97oz thrust.....6lbs 1oz
261 mph efflux speed (measured with Eagletree V3)

Esc used is a Suppo 7s 200a (the type with adjustable timming (30 degrees) and pwm 16k)

I`ll post some pics later. I may have found the powerplant for my Squal.

Cost about $80 for motor/wire/fan/esc. Then add lipos.

Those are Crazy numbers! It'll be interesting to see if the housing/shroud holds up...

Yah!

Please video the maiden! Might be awesome to see the Squall look like it got hit by a SAM when the rotor gives up!

Naw, j/k... but it's gonna be awesome to see that one streak across the sky.

more pics

here are a few shots of the fan broken down

The standoff block is glued into the motor tube. This one thing makes a huge diff in the strength of the whole shroud assy.

Nice work Lee. This rotor needs a bit of torque but the pitch really let's you experiment with high flow thru rates.

Cheers,

Oh well. You dont have to worry. Im done sharing with others, didn't want to do it in the first place. Not use to this anyhow, dont know the first thing about posting anything. Im fine flying all by myself. And as for my flying, havent hurt anyone in 15 years .And yes it is a public street, in the country, I was well away from the bike, you just couldn't see it. Why do you think he didnt stop or move or anything! Think! Had no choise but to land. Not everyone has the ability to have a nice runway or in a club that has one. I solely wanted people to have something to help make there choise in what they buy. Just like they helped me in alot of ways. Its like you people have no heart or just forgot about the pure sport of it. Take care people. And have fun! Wasn't for my kind no way!!!!

Well that WAS fast !! Though composites are nice and slippery for that.
Nice scale take-off..... and sort of a scale landing, but at 500kph (real scale, LOL). It needed a drag chute! But I am sure it could have landed at half that speed too.
I didn't think it looked as nice on the couch, but it looked great on that flight day! And sounded great too.
Looked a very good result for a 70mm fan in a 90mm aircraft!!

Looks like old 90mm airframes are the new 70mm airframes, and the old 120`s are the new 90`s. Got to love it.

That means that the Old Turbines are the new 120`s.
