If you're heavy on the go stick with most high power EDF setups make sure not to cut the motor off and let the heat soak into your ESC and motor windings...run the motor at the lowest power you can get it to cool things down for a minute or two after landing.

Very nice power out of that motor
Which one, 2500Kv or 2800Kv?

I just ordered the 2800Kv since I plan on going 5S most of the time, and maybe 6S with limited WOT.

2500kv

I think if I were running the 2500 during cooler days I could run it WOT I would no doubt do the 2800kv in burst on 6s...

Would love to see what the thrust is, I think the 2500kv has some heat room in it too but not for 7s maybe can tick up the timing a bit

Wow I had to read your post twice. 8lbs?!

I wonder if I didn't make a mistake by getting the 2800kv instead of 2500kv?

I want as much performance as possible out of the 5S lipos I have, but from what I read there is not a whole lot gained by going to 2800, while the 2500 does provide some head room for 6S...

lol..just reread the post it's 5lbs 8oz...I was getting 5lbs 4oz before

Yeah, 8lbs out of a 70mm would change things in EDF world a lil

Also, those 300 more KV might push the fan in the 6lbs settled range with good batts.

I would do a thrust test with a 15 second burst on 6s...that should be good enough for most 70mm planes

Did you use the CS-10 housing for these bench tests? I know some guys are using different EDF housings with the CS-10 fan.

I have this Motor(CP480-2500kv) & CS-10 ready to mount in my new unpainted HABU Airframe that's been hiding in my basement for a year now. Should have crazy speed & thrust on 6S!

Yeap, don't blame them if an in-runner is used but the CP motors have a long standoff and keeps the motor from melting the can holder when some watts are applied.

I wish HK would sell them but there's enough venders that get them out the door....for 60usd for the fan and motor it's not a bad combo for over 5lbs of thrust

Yup thanks for clearing that. I had to look twice myself, if we could get 8lbs it would take 3Kw to get it done but wouldn't it be fun...

Need Some Suggestions

I used blue loctite on the grub screws for the shaft adapter and my motor threw a magnet so I had to try and remove it. I had a heck of a time trying to get the grub (set) screws off. In fact, I ended up taking the motor apart instead to get it out of the fan housing.

I was able to use my little butane torch to heat and remove one of them, but the other side is still stuck, and what's worse is that it's completely stripped so the Allen wrenches don't grab.

Any suggestions before I try to drill it out, which I'm guessing won't work?

When I removed the one on the opposite side I was able to slide the adapter off the shaft, but it still fits pretty tightly without wobble. Should I just leave it there? Will one set screw be enough to hold the adapter on the shaft, since I cannot tighten the other?

You can try an EaseOut, it's similar to a reverse drill bit but they're made for things like this. If that doesn't work try a reverse drill bit and maybe it will break loose before you drill through it. I would get it good and hot before you try and remove it again, this will help the loctite let go.

Or take a sacrificial Allen wrench that is slightly larger then the original. Use a block sander to whisker off a little at a time of the flats, till you can tap the wrench in.

Once you have it sized, as stated apply heat and see what happens.

Since you got the adapter off, there is only the loctite holding the screw in, so it should come out fairly easy.
