Thanks for the response racer. Thats the one I'm going with. I hope it has enough push on 4s for a 2.5lb F/A-18. If the data sheets are correct I should be around 3.2 lbs of thrust.

If you check back in the thread quite a few are using the fan with the Delta shroud, in the Habu and they are missiles! I would think the Hawk and Sabre would both be great ones for this unit. As for kv it would depend how big of a pack you want to run. Something in the range of 2100/2300 for 4 or 5S, even 6.
If you have a big amp esc and pack you could look at a 2800 to 3000 kv motor.


sherlockshah, Yeah I think you have too high of a kv motor for even 3S on this fan. You aren't going to be happy.
It seems this fan likes a low kv motor on high voltage to really make it shine.

My CP480-2500kv motor numbers

4s\ 15.2v\ 50a\ 48oz settled
5s\ 17.6v\ 60a\ 58oz settled
6s\ 22.2v\ 85a\ 84oz settled

195f peak outside of can after 20 second run then couldn't get the motor or the motor shaft above 200f. Shaft of outrunner is decent measuring point for heat of windings cause it's were most heat is going to be held after a run.

All other temps weren't worth mentioning..

What is wrong with a 3600kv motor on 3s?? Will it pull too many amps? I know this motor can run on 4s with proper cooling fins so i was thinking at 10blade fan with the same 3s cell count the motor should hold up, but please explain your reasoning why I will be unhappy?

Wow, that's a big jump from 5S at 58oz to 6S at 84oz...

Sherlock ~ based on past experience, ultimately it will not matter what test results and common wisdom dictate, you are going to do what you are going to do. No matter how many recommendations we make, there will always be a but...

Take a moment to read through the thread and you will note some patterns. Also, how about this, run your own test rather than having other do the work for you. Experience is the best teacher (especially when you don't listen anyways).

So as I said, please go ahead and use your 3600Kv motor on 3S, run it up to WOT, and make sure you get some video of it.

I take it you have some high C 3s packs, I think the MB1 which is 3200kv hit 100 amps on 4s so your 3600kv is prolly going to do the same tAng but with lower thrust numbers.

Do you have a 5s 4000mah 40c pack? If so those 2300kv L2855 motors are 12.50 for 1 and 25usd for two and will do 100amp for both on 5s around 7lbs of thrust.

That's some decent get gone.

The calculated RPM for 3lbs of thrust is 37000 rpm so 37000 / (3.5 x 3) = 3600kv with a 60 - 70 amp pull from a 3s

So you can prolly do 2 of em for 6lbs of thrust with this CS10 fan for 120amps on 3s....use heavy gauge pack wires

for so long I did get my fans though. I am trying to find someone to build my F-22 for me since I suck at building. No body local seems to want to take the task and on top I guess I was not offering much LOL $100bucks. If i ship it out to someone I guess they can build it for me and just leave the wings off for me to glue here so the box is not that big.

I think:

3600kv * 12.6Volts= 45360/16.8=2700

One 3600 kv motor to 3s is same a 2700kv motor to 4s.
around 950 watts and 86Ampers with 3slipo fore 3600 kv motor.

More easy with 2700 kv motor to 4s= to 65Ampers, 950 watts.
