Yes, i took the end cap off..it just screwed off

I know which ones you're talking about, you can turn the blades around so it'll pull vs push

Yes, no doubt...you can also get a good look at the coils too.

I've added a couple to my wish list on HK...seriously thing of putting this in my FF 100 and seeing how it does in flight.

8mins beating on it on the bench hasn't convinced me yet...

I have the same Idea of using 3S because I have the 100gr mega 16/20/2 3100kv.

in terms of rpm
a 2300kv motor with 4s is roughly : 2300kv*4s*3.5v*0.8 = 25760 rpm
a 3100kv motor with 3s is roughly : 3100kv*3s*3.5v*0.8 = 26040 rpm

the only difference is amp draw though....

I think the CP motors have that advantage along with being fairly light with a longer bell length.

I remember in car audio when the manufactures starting cooling with oils and opened ended and bumped voice coil cylinders watts and performance went up.
Don's R/C has standoff adapters for $20 usd. They are made well, I have used them before. I agree with you about cooling of the motor, standoff adapters make a big difference..

ok.

just found out I have an old mega 16/25/4 1270 kv in the box.

this might be fine with CS 10 blade + 8s and keep the amp draw low.
1270kv * 8s * 3.5v * 0.8 = 28500 rpm

Racer if you would, add to the info to a legend, as to what the various initials stand for if you would.
Would help the dummies like me figure out what they all stand for.

For example, when I pulled up the latest version with color, the screen size was so large the legend didn't show. Took some resizing and head scratching till I figured it out.

Flylow, the Mega 25/4 is a great motor. I used them all the time in my Strykers, 50+ amps and they never broke a sweat. Granted they had some serious airflow around em.

Anywho, had today off, and finally got my girl up on her feet. Just waiting on some motors and she's done.

Yes I will, but I have not posted a version yet with color coding, I have an outstanding question for Manuel or the group in post #2320 .....

I know there are other ways to affect cooling, but we are talking about a general rating to give guidance.

Thoughts on how to adjust for that appreciated?

I also believe the watts for the Tacon results were settled Ws: vs. Wp: Just fyi.
That's right, very interesting question.
On a forum asked Dr. kiwi, if, when selecting the engine weight, included the Xmount and adapter or just the engine.

Not if my answer is correct.
but I think in any application, any metallic material that is touching the engine helps to dissipate the heat.
If we add air flow, then increase heat dissipation.
That I be the reason why an engine used in 3D applications only pays 2.5 to 4 watts per gram of weight, while EDF pays a facilmete 8 watts per gram.
In a metal DF engine must be able to be enforced more.
I think in the case of two engines of the same weight, one inruner vs a outruner as CP-480, the outruner has more ability to dissipate heat.
But it is difficult to measure because it also features efficiency.
Het motors and the like are very efficient, while CP-480 are not so (I think, but I have not measured), so in like circumstances will produce less heat het that the CP-480 matching the stage.

EDF have some additional air inlets at the front to give better ventilation to the engine.

Of course, an EDF without proper ventilation with no holes Inruner front backwards, has little chance of performing .
