901racer, can you please update your excel with these 2855-2300kv numbers.
Somehow there are some errors.

4S 3300 25C
14.42Vm
43.44Ap
656.3Wp
1.3Kg Thrust

4S 4000 40C
14.82Vm
46.60Ap
704.5Wp
1.35Kg Thrust

Maidened my HK DH Vampire today with the L2855-2300kv.

The 2300kv on 4S is very efficient. After a 4 minute flight I put back 1000mah in the battery.

What a revelation - performance and sound wise. The vampire's airframe produces TONS of white noise.. It's a closest thing I heard to the real deal from a 70mm.

I am uploading a video later.
I bet it sounds better in person...

I got all kinds of comments on the whoosh white noise sound from the Star max F14 from turbine flyers

I love flying that thing now because of the sound alone, the turbine whistle it produces on landing is crazy.

I bet it would sound even better with an outrunner

Going down to 13v on 4s is not good, I've had a cell catch on fire in air because it was popped and all the other cells were good and the ESC didn't cut voltage fast enough.

It was the best smoke landing I've ever seen and gave me an idea for an electric smoke systems that I'm going to try before the fly ins this summer but I wont do them with smoked lipo cells lol...

4lbs on 13volts is still wow....
I checked the battery and it looks like all the cells are holding the same voltage. This is just a 2200mah 4s and I pounded on this thing for 4mins. That was the minimum voltage during that time for the run.

Ok. The video doesn't do it justice. It is much louder in real life

Turn the sound up....

Very nice flier but to set it up properly one must have experience.
The flight was in 15mph winds and it was interesting....

Try fly this thing with the cg 2 cms back, high rates and no expo and it can be disaster.

One of the easiest edfs to fly, similar to the T-45 but much easier to land.

A bit like a Hellcat with a jet engine.....

4lbs after 4min on a 2200mah pack is impressive, what batts were you using?

Were they puffed or hot?

The 70mm arena has stepped the game up here recently

Andrew that sounded great!!!

901 yeah I would call that pounding on that poor little pack. Like the "little pack that could"
Wonder how much a bigger pack would change your specs?

Quick question to the wise on this thread.....slightly unrelated

I've been doing some testing with some batteries (old ones) and wanted to check to see if these batteries are gone and need to be discarded.

Zippy flight max 2650mah 14.8v 20C
Wp 554
3.7 Wh
40.94 Ap
.275 Ah
12.89 Vm

I tested the same setup using my 2650 mah14.8v 35C Nanotechs and got 14.97Vm.

Is the difference in voltage mainly due to a dropped cell or something to that effect.

Easy to find out: just check if there are any differences between the cells in the pack after such a trial (BEFORE charging them). If you don't have a practical device to read individual cell voltage, put it on the charger with low charging current and look at the individual voltage values. If they are very similar it's your whole pack which is not suited to this kind of discharge. That would also result in the pack getting rather warm rather quick...
EDIT: Just saw that the "good one" is a Nanotech 35C, the other is only a 20C rated Zippy - are you naive or am I missing something?
C rating tells you how much current to ask from a pack (the factor you multiply with the capacity, so it is 35 x 2.65, or only 20 x 2.65), and it's usually overrated. But assuming that the Nano and the Zippy are exaggerating in the same manner you can expect almost twice the continuous current from the 35C pack vs. the 20C pack.

clive, Philip had a problem with CS going to make HK the sole supplier, they cancelled his order. Now CS had a change of heart, next shipment of fans is going to the little guys that made CS. Ming (windrider) told me he wasn't going to carry em anymore also. Don't know if had to do with the above or not.

Gotta question for the experts here.

My HET Me262 is a slug with the Wemo fans and HET 3W motors on 4S. I had to actually cut cheater holes in the bottom of the intake to get more air in. The CF intake ducts start out small then size up to the fans, which seems silly to me.

I was thinking of moving the fans from the center of the nacelles, out to the front, even if it means redoing the nacelles. My thinking is then the fans would be wide open to intake, and I can build longer exhaust tubes to make it work.

Thoughts/suggestions?
