I respectfully present my gripe with a seperate 'Want to Trade' forum - it adds too much diversification and yet too little.
To clarify, very often people just want to find a good deal without anything too specific in mind. They may have a loose idea what they want but are open to several options. I think having a seperate WTT forum is going to make life harder for such people.
For example, I only fly electric airplanes. No gassers. So to find deals I want, I have 3 different forums to browse:
1. Electric - Airplanes (FS/W)
2. Aircraft - Electric - Jets (FS/W)
3. Aircraft - Electric - Micro & Indoor Airplanes
I'm equally open to flying any airplane whether parkflyer/indoor/jet and these 3 forums almost completely satisfy my needs. Even though I have 3 forums to check, that is acceptable because I do like to differentiate at times, between indoor and outdoor deals. Many folks have a strong preference toward any one of these 3 types, so it makes life cleaner/easier for them by keeping these deals in different forums. That way they dont have to browse through all different types of deals on all one forum. In short, this kind of diversification is good.
But with a separate WTT forum, I fear having too much diversification and yet too little. On this forum, we'd have all kind of RC deals - electric parkflyers/indoor/outdoor/jets, sailplanes, electric helis, gas helis, turbines, and even radios, servos, crystals, boats, etc. all getting lumped under a single forum because the 'seller' is open to trade on these items. For people like me, it would mean having a 4th forum to browse which is 'polluted' by so many other types of items that dont interest me.
And even if I did browse this new forum, most of the time I imagine asking "I dont have item X to trade for item Y - would you take $$ instead?" and expecting a "Yes no problem cash is fine too".
Ya sure people can always cross post but that means that people browsing both forums now see the same deal multiple times, and is in general, not a clean solution.
So in my mind, this new forum actually adds very little value. If at all, it actually makes things worse...
