3rd Annual John Erickson Memorial DLG contest - Jan 14-15 2012
It's hard to believe but we're coming up on 2 years since we lost a true friend in John Erickson. For the last two Januarys we've honored John with DLG contests that have been highly attended, loads of fun events. We'll we're doing it again this year so start making plans to attend .This contest is a Team Select Qualifier !

Lunch time Eats: Subway lunch provided both days:Sandwich, chips, water.
Dinner Eats - Friday Night- We are going to Super Mex due to the size of our group, we're just too big for Taco Surf. The address is 6429 E Spring St. and Palo Verde in Long Beach It's about 1.5 miles from the park exit at the corner of Spring and Pal Verde.
Saturday Night - Cirevellos Sports Stop - 4115 N. Viking Way, Long Beach -(562) 420-2113 This is about 2 miles from the field.
Pilot Entry Limit -Due to the overwhelming response in participation for this years JEM event, I am limiting the pilot entires to the first 60 that sign up. Because we have the least daylight to fly this time of year, I don't want to run more than 4 flight groups of 15 pilots. I am also going to move our starting time up to 8:30am on Saturday and Sunday. This will allow us to get in 7 rounds and still have about 1/2 hour for lunch.
Get on board now! Please send me your name and frequency on this thread if you intend to participate.
If you have any questions , need a ride or anything - my cell # is 714-307-1172.

Flyoffs - We will fly a four round flyoff featuring the top 8 pilots. Prelims will be normalized and added to the 4 round flyoff for 5000 max points possible This is different than standard F3K but we're doing it anyway. It's the way the Masters is done, makes sense to me.
As stated before, my plans were to fly seven rounds on Saturday, which is about the most that is humanly possible with 4 groups of 15 pilots during the shortened winter days of January.
In an effort to deal with the great response we've had to the preliminary sign ups, and to find out who's really serious about coming to the event, I am going to request payment of the entry fee at this time. I will give the people who are the first 60 on the list one week( until 10/24) to pay ( you get first shot to save your spot), then I will give those on the waiting list 1 week to pay( until 10/ 31), then I'll open it up to anyone until I get 60 entries. Your entry will be refundable up to two weeks prior to the event if you change your mind.
Payment of $30 should be sent to Paypal address: email@example.com
I will confirm every payment with an email response in addition to the auto email from Paypal. I will tag your name on the pilot roster here as paid as a double check. Please make sure that your Paypal info includes your correct name , especially if you are paying using the girlfriend's account (who am I kidding, you guys don't have girlfirends).
There may be better ways to do it, but it seems reasonably fair.
Pilots list has been updated . 57 paid pilots. We will have a hard cutoff at 60 pilots. If you have notified me of your intent to fly , but haven't paid yet, please do.Pilots list in attached zip file.

For anyone out of state, January weather is great. The average high in January is 68 and the average low is 49. (And the record high for January in 95.)
Here are some photos from last year's contest showing almost everyone wears T-shirts in January. Its nice.
That's 10 sign ups in the first 2 hours. Nice!
