Looks like my esc held up was cool to the touch, but the motor was hot. Not sure what the motor amps is rated @. Will prolly have to us this setup in another plane as I don't want to remove the esc & upgrade. Unless I buy the 1600kv combo and use this as a spare (since the specs show 86a). Charging batts will run a better vid by end of day.

If thats the Tacon 1700kv motor. It's nominal max amps are 72, I think and max watts at 2400. Could it be a good combo?? Maybe. We'll try the Tacon 1700 out in a few days with more Data on how it performs.

Not a Tacon. It's a edf hobbies 1700kv (not sure who actually makes it), but its an outrunner. They have no specs on it on their site except the kv & lipo. It says 8s on the site, but the box I got says 6s-8s. It was givin to me for a mistake on an order.

Scat,
I missed it 2 when I moved to the bay area for work n cost of living went up. So I'm back, can't replace the country living.

Edf 90mm CS 12 blade (0 min 43 sec)

Gens Ace 6s 25c

Perfectly balanced prop n no spinner wobble. Too much amps for my esc so I pulled it and went back to my old 90mm. Guess I'll be putting this in my next 90mm edf whatever that'll be.

Ya just wish the amps were a lil lower. But the watts was were I was expecting. Wish I had a 150a esc in it, but I'd only be getting 3 min flights max with throttle managment. No bueño!

Ill Be looking for that 1700kv test just for comparison.

I got my Tacon 1700KV motor today and quality looks good. I got a funny response when I requested that I get the EDF version with cooling holes. This was my reply.

Good morning Jeff,

The Tacon Brushless Motor LBP3674-B/2Y-1700KV For 90mm EDF Jet doesn't come with cooling holes. If you have any questions or concern regarding this matter, please feel free to contact us through via email or phone 1(626)968-9860 for technical support extension

Glad they aren’t sure what they have but I got mine with holes on both ends.

Now I wish I would've waited the ones I have don't have cooling holes, I've been beating up on the 810kv motor with the Hoaye 6 blade rotors on 12s and it has stood up pretty good regarding heat. I've run mine with long runs at 2200 watts and it's a shorter can length, 60mm, that the one you have.

The weak point on the older KDA and SUXFLY motors have been the magnets and not the windings, windings would hold up fine magnets hated heat and would lose their pull.

The Tacon 810 magnets are doing fine with no cooling holes so I suspect it'll hold up better with them, I also have the 2848 motor 2100kv motor in an 80mm Eflight....really surprised that it put out numbers close to the eflight 2100kv motor even though it was a shorter can....on both motors I used a heat sink

I have one of those motors but its the 2400kv one, it gives 5pds of thrust at 4s\ 80 amps and 6.5 thrust at 5s 100 amps...very efficient motor with a Freewing fan

Love them because they only weigh around 6ozs, my fan assembly is 10oz without the the lip.

How was the heat on the motor after your testing? Any discernible change in winding wire brightness?

That's a pretty good motor if it can eat 2400 watts, it's can length isn't that long so I decided to keep mine at less than 2000 watts for it to last.

Be interesting to know if these can take 3000 watts on a wemo using 8s, 1700kv takes this fan above 100 amps on 6s with the CS\12 fan

Looks like the 5pd bench mark for this fan is 1500kv at around 1300 watts.

It was an out runner, around a 50mm can
