Just a FYI..I was testing a Tacon 1700 and it let go just above 2k watts...Killed my CChv85 at the same time..not even a cool one..no smoke or flames..just pop and it is done..
I was runing it in a Wemo for comparison on 9s...peak was 2300 watts then setted down to 2000 max amps was 75...

Hmmm, I have a TACON 810 KV motor on a Freewing Rotor (wemo knock off) and it's been giving me over 8lbs of thrust on 12s 50 amps.

It's a 36-60mm motor so it's shorter than the 1700, heats up good but I'm using a heat sink.

Did the coils burn or did the magnets demag? Have you tried another ESC?

In the past when magnets demag and I try to run it it takes out the ESC too.

Lighten up guys, I did mention in the beginning it was sort of a joke, not to be taken seriously.

Still now one has attempted to explain how the manuals are always wrong.
The best explanation is that the manufacturer "Guessed" the CG.
Ok, I'm done now...

motor let go...did have a heat sink on it also...should not have died at that power level..but I am sure it was near it limit..Only made 3 short power runs..Shorted a winding out...this motor has no cooling holes...I think that was a factor

Do you smell the windings? Is that what gave out?

I have the smaller green motor and it's been pretty good through multiple runs at over 2000 watts on 12s\50amps

Maybe it's the lack of amps that's giving the 810kv smaller TACON motor it's running power.

I also have the 40mm diameter 74 and it's in a haoye shroud and it's been bullet proof...

while the HET motors also have their coolling rings also have cooling holes and those holes are aligned with their EDF units and on top of that the EDF unit has low load.

1700kv will be too much. I have a 1400kv motor in a Stu 90 on 8S and pulling 90 amps and that's at 5000 feet above sea level, I would be over 100 amps a few thousand feet lower. Tell him to try 6S first, he should see around 100 in amp draw with 6S.

Thats dissapointing turbo.
For me the question did you have a bad one, or is this motor inheritently not up to the job? Certainly cooling holes will help, which seems some are being supplied with.
It does'nt make sense testing $40 motors if they are going to chew up $100 controllers!
Which leaves us with what motor results do we have on 6S - regardless of motor price ?
