Man, I would love to but with four small kids at home and a move just around the corner itís not going to happen. Plus I need to do a lot more flying to feel comfortable flying at a show like that. And at this rate I won't get the retracts until sometime in late 2014.

Honestly not sure, I can get a nib fixed gear Bobcat 51 for $99 but i gotta have retracts or handlaunch. I've thought about a Starfire, what do you have in mind?

i already have a clipped wing Habu with flaps with a Habu 32 power system and a hopped up Rebel so anything I get has to go 130 mph plus or I won't be happy

Hmmmmm...The new Super Sniper XL looks awfully nice for the $400 you pay for it.

I think I am going to stick with 120mm. I have a Falcon 120 sitting in its box right now and you know am working on converting an old MiG-27 foam target drone for a 120mm fan. Its stalled right now too until I can get some resin and glass to glass it. Trying to get that Vendetta is eating all my money right now.

As far as a good sport jet goes, I will probably break down and get a Yellow Aircraft Starfire if someone does not come out with a nice 120mm sport jet ARF in the $600-$800 range sometime in the near future.

So how does the AXI compare to the HK motor?

There is no comparison. The AXi is an excellently machined and constructed motor. But it is also a LOT more expensive and quite a bit larger than the HK motor. Both have their place.

All I need to do now is get my grubby hands on that Vendetta kit. Sorry, no updates on the Spitfire. And I am only complicating things further by an upcoming move and studying for the MCAT and getting my application together for medical school.

Not to be the bearer of bad news,
but the axi twin would have to be twin 5345's to even be close to spinning 20" 3 blade props.

Scott, if your interested i have a Combat Models F-16 somewhat started that will easily take a 120mm fan, I don't think I'll build it anytime soon and I'm sure you could do wonders on it I paid $175 in the box so I'd take $200 and include the brand new eflite 60-120 nosegear for it also, unless you also wanted the experimental 114mm fan
"
builds to 74" long and 47" ws

you would need to create ducting but an otherwise easy build

Who made those props and how much did they cost? They look nice. I don't think the 5330 would have trouble with a 20" prop, I would just have to watch the amp draw. Are AXi motors bad about exceeding the ratings? Seems like you can beat the crap out of scorpion motors and they just keep running. That P-38 looks awesome BTW!

Something your not considering is the pitch of the prop that you need to get the pitch speed for a given kv.
That is why I went with 19x16 for my P-38
A 20' 2 blade is pushing it for a 5330, let alone a 3 blade.
Also, 10s is max for a 5330.

On the double 5330 with both motors turning (1) prop it only calls for a 24-26" prop.

I had done a lot of calc. on this axi double a while back because I was considering getting the TopFlight 1/5 P-51 arc and turning it into the Red Baron RB-51.
It was too small for it, let alone a 1/4 Miss Ashley.

The custom props were from http://www.vrtule-fiala.cz/
and around $120 shipped if I remember right.
