on the RL website, the longes RL Rx antenna is 60cm (~24inches),

Is it possible to use a DragonLink Rx antenna thats 39"?

Or can Sid make me a 39" RL Rx antenna?
Add 60cm antenna to your cart and put a notice with your order that you want a 39'' RX Antenna.

Okay, I received this system today, and I am looking forward to getting it into the air. I'm wondering how the antenna works for the receiver? I think I understand that the 3dBi, longer antenna attaches to the TX, but I don't know how to get the most from the RX antenna. Do you just attach the yellow wire down the side of the plane?

Sid,

I have sent you several emails with no response - i think my new RL Tx could be faulty - as i cant get more than 15-20m range even with one servo and Nicd battery - it does not seem right !

Do i need to send it in for warrenty repair ? please reply to my emails.

You mean meters, or ft? Thought you said 10-12 paces before.

Just to do high power mode ground range test to comfirm that RL has an issue.

i'm making a new antenna for my rx on my quad, does the coax measurement critical? or the critical part of the measurement is the wire at the end pf the coax? the one coe with the rx is a bit too long for my quad

or maybe sander style antenna? have anyone used sander style antenna on RL?

There is a huge thread on why my older EzUHF had range issues and 'MANY' failsafes!
(stock antenna, vs Diamond SRH771 Antenna vs
433MHz Nagoya Dual Band Antenna)

The Diamond SRH771 had best results! Is that what you guys use on your RL Tx?
or do you use the Stock Antenna that came with the RL?

I would like your opinions'.....What made you all choose the RL besides the pricing differential.....

Thank You,
HappyHolidays....
I cannot speak for all, but I choosed RL for the following reasons:

It was Sid's second long range system. That said, the initial mistakes on the first product could be avoided. He also was listening to the users in terms of feature requests and added them all. EzUHF has some more features to be honest, but it does not cooperate well with other LRS systems, often not even with other EzUHF users. I know this from personal observations as well as reports from friends who use it. I personally could observe two cases where pilots lost their plane because of EzUHF all of a sudden going into failsafe in relatively close proximity. In one case it happened because the tx module all of a sudden becamse defective mid flight.
RangeLink on the other hand does not have such issues. I regularly fly with a friend also using RangeLink and so far we simply use the stock antennas. That was good enough for 15km so far. If I want to go further out, the stock antenna might still be ok but for these cases I bought a 70cm 6 element yagi antenna. That yagi thus is not too high gain, but that should do way further out than I ever want to fly.

Feature wise, DL version 2 and RangeLink are almost identical. RangeLÓnk has aditionally the feature that multiple transmitters can have the same tx id assigned. That's a special case feature which maybe only helps a small number of pilots but for me it was important. I have a permanent installation of a RangeLink on the roof of my home with the same ID as the one that I take with me if I go flying elsewhere. This prevents me from constantly rebinding all my planes. The other application of this feature are LEGAL long range records where you have a follower team in a car using the same TX ID so as they could take over in case of danger.

RangeLink just works, and has all features one really needs. It's price tag is reasonable but the price was not my primary concern. Back in the days when I was shopping for my first LRS I actually wanted to buy an EzUHF (RangeLink was not born these days) but it was sold out everywhere. I then ended up buying a DragonLink (version 1), an OpenLRS and a ChainLink. I liked the ChainLink (not the dare) most among them and once it went out of production I subsequently sold it and bought two RangeLink systems from Sid.

Today I'm happy I did not jumped on the EzUHF bandwagon. It safed me some money and definately some grief.

HTH
