You need to do a test with *just* the RL Rx powered (preferably with a NiMH battery to
rule out noise from ESC/BEC) and use that as your baseline.

Note that if it persists in being very short range, it could be indicating some
other problem, like a damaged Tx or Rx antenna or SMA connector.

just grabbed a new Rx from my lot with a new antenna, one micro servo and a lipo / Assan 3A UBEC (dont have a nicd in hand) - i get only slightly more than 10 paces.

opened the Tx - SMA coax is intact and soldered well.

i think i will test this in flight, but does it sound not right to you ?

Yes, 10 paces still sounds low to me. I just ran a quick micro-power test, and got
a pretty solid 20 paces, and could extend it to about 30 if I held the Rx antenna in optimal
orientation. However, I did just discover that a couple of my Rx antennas are broken.
The problem is, these thin coax multi-strand cores aren't very strong. The center conductor
can break off underneath the shrink wrap.

Strip back a tiny bit of the tip of your Rx antenna (just enough to see the conductor)
and check continuity between the tip of the active element and the center pin on the Rx
SMA connector.

RL Connection Question:

Using a Futaba 9C Super,...connecting to rear module Pins,
(and using the 3s Lipo inside my Futaba 9C Tx).
Is this the proper connection using only the 3 wires?

Thanks fellas'....

Hi guys, I have a Turnigy 9x transmitter; can I plug the head tracking cable from my Fat Sharks into the Turnigy 9x's trainer port, or does it have to go into the Rangelink transmitter's head tracker port? I don't want to have to butcher a cable unless I have to. Thanks!

Original antenna uses RG178 coax (but RG316 should be ok from what I've read), and each leg of the dipole is 164mm.

Tutorial here

Thanks Ian. i checked continuity between the groudn wire of the antenna and it was fine, i will check the other side too, but i tried another antenna and didnt quite see a difference.

this model has a camera (which was off and didnt make a difference), 1.2ghz VTx (which was off and didnt make a difference) and an Eagle tree OSD auto pilot full system + 2 UBECs - one 6V for Rx and one 12V for video and lights.
lights are also controlled by a turnigy brushed ESC.

What do you think could be causing this ? i think the 433mhz system is pretty immune to all of the above ?
