Except he could have it today dirt cheap. I do get a stronger signal, in English
Do have to watch the nulls but angle doesn't change fast at LR.

Hey Elliott I noticed you have 100% RSSI at 20km, How you do that?

What do you guys prefer with your RSSI selection?
1.packet loss indicator or 2. Rf signal strength indicator

As for the IBCrazy Turnstile, I prefer it for my flying wing because I don't have it sticking below the plane. I just bury it in the wing.

Packet loss indicator is sort of like the dummy temperature gauge in your car.
It'll indicate 100% most of the time, and when it starts to change at all,
you should probably go home. The Rf RSSI gives you a much more
progressive indication of range, but it's non-linear and varies greatly with
antenna orientations, multipathing, and so forth, so it can be a bit distracting to
see it bouncing around. Have to accept that it's not going to just sit
at 98-100% all the time, even when you're relatively close. For
detecting antenna problems it's invaluable though.

A valid applicatioin for the Turnstyle as long as you keep the mentioned limitation in mind.

I use self made dipole antennas which I made out of relatively stiff 0.6mm silver coated copper wire. Before flight I straighten the lower wire which then will be in perfect position but obviousely gets bent back during the landing. That wire can be bent many many times without problems and at the point it breaks, I simply replace the antenna with spare one I have on the field. Since making such an antenn is extremly cheap and since such an antenna does not really use up space that's easy enough to do. I then repair the "broken" antenna by simply replacing that part of the wire.

Same reason that the temp gauge in your car does not show you true temperature
(which actually changes constantly between about 160-200 degrees F). It can be
distracting, even when nothing is wrong. From a control perspective, you
may only want to know that you're receiving 100% of the packets and when
you start losing packets, you've hit the edge of the range and it's time to turn around.

Interesting - I flew out to 2ks and was at 49% rssi still had full control and when I tried the high power mode there was no change?
I'm using 1.2 (1080) video and the vrx was directly between my radio aerial and the plane, as soon as I flew out further to my left the rssi jumped up to 100%
It's great having the rvosd return to home - it installs great confidence!
