Hey guys, Instead of jumping on another thread I thought I would start a new one.

In the middle of testing out a new motor in my Sbach. For the past 2 seasons I ran a Turnigy c8085-170 with a 24x10 prop. Went with Boca bearing from the start with this motor. Still runs good but wanted to try something else.

Monday my Rimfire 65cc showed up. Got it installed and flew it the next day. Here is what I have found out so far.

1st flight. 25x12 Xoar gas prop. Very mild flight. 5050 watts@ 124 amps.
2nd flight. Same prop but normal flight. Mixed flying. 6500 watts @147 amps.7769rpm
3rd flight. APC 24x12 E prop. 5153 watts @ 127 amps. 8141 rpm. I used 3400 mAh in a 5 minute flight.

I mounted up my Xoar 26x10 e prop tonight but I see the winds will be gusting to 25mph tomorrow

I am using 2 5000 mAh TP 65c packs along with a CC ice 160. All data is from the controller and are in flight numbers.

All in all I think the Turnigy when new had more power. Both motors now feel the same. May end up with a 24x 12 Xoar e prop but want to at least check out the 26x10 first.

As soon as I can fly again I will post the numbers on the next prop.

I assume you are using a 12S-5000 battery setup. You indicate the mAh and C rating but not the number of cells.

I dont remember the part number for the Turnigy Boca bearings but I got the info from this site. I thing his name was Geoff or something. Also think 2 of the bearings were correct but one was not the corect size? It has been a couple of years.

In my opinion, electric motors fly better with higher pitch props.

What is the weight of your plane and how would you rate the vertical performance?

I just recieved the 24x14 today. 40mph gust today. We have had crazy wind here the past few days. Tomorrow is only 10 to 15. Will test the 26x10 that is on it now. Then the 24x14 and I may put the 24x10 on and see how it feels. Then I will know what works best for me. My guess will be that the 26 has too much low end and the 24x14 will be the sweet spot.

My plane weighs just under 20lbs. 19.8

Tried out some more props today. Here is what I found.

24x14 Xoar gas: 5850 @ 142a 7699 rpm
26x12 Xoar E : 5700 @ 132a 8025 rpm
24x12 Xoar E : 5460 @ 130a 8219 rpm
25x12 Xoar gas: 6500 @ 147a 7769 rpm
24x12 APC E : 5153 @ 127a 8141 rpm

In flight the ones that felt the best were the 24x14 and the 24x12 Xoar E prop. The 24x14 had more speed but the 24x12E prop just felt a little better.

I have the 24x12e prop on now and will try it out for a while. Still to windy around here.

Got in two flights after work today. Flew it with the 24x14. This plane flys awesome now. The 24x14 is "sweet" Also the motor is real quiet. The Turnigy motor growled in the air. Unreal how smooth it is now. Love the 14 pitch

That must be a rocket ship since a DA50 will swing a 22x10 at around 7000rpm if memory serves me. Been a long time since I have owned one.

So for a plane that is in the 17-18 lb range do you think still go Rimfire 65 or the Rimfire 50?
