Alright. So, ill use a 2200 as an example. A 1C charge rate would be 2.2 amps. 2C would be 4.4. 3C, 6.6, and so on.

Yeah C is just a multiplier of the battery's capacity. 5C, 5x the capacity. So on your 500mAh it would be 0.5A times 5 = 2.5A

Okay. So on my 500's, a 1C charge rate would be .5 amps, a 2C would be 1amp, 3C 1.5 amps and so forth?

Got that part. Now to contact VH and see what the max charge rating is for that pack, as they do not list it on their site.

Thanks for the help guys. This discussion was what I needed to give me a clear understanding of these batteries. C rating had always confused me before, but now I am good.

Thanks again.

Charge ratings are sometimes on the pack itself, usually as a "do not charge above xC" warning.

Yeah, not on the Gforce packs. I put an email to their tech dept. enquiring about max charge rate. By the end of the day, I should know. I will post here for others that may use those packs.

Also...how is charging at 5C on the batteries? Is that hammering on them pretty hard? Wondering how much it would decrease the life expectancy of the pack compared to say charging at 4C, 3C, 2C or 1C...

How about for 3S?

EDIT...Oops! Didn't mean the Gens Ace batteries, meant the Twisted Hobbys batteries. $9 for 2S each...
I can only speak to the Gens Ace 2S 450's. I charge them (and all my other batteries at the max C rating) which is 5C (2.2A) for the Gens Ace 2S 450 25C.

I have never had a problem other than a JST connector that was loose after lots of use. I relaced the JST and still fly the pack.

I have 18 of them and at $3.20 each, I'm not concerned with battery life.

As stated in parenthesis above, I charge all my packs at the manufacturers max C rating. Never had a problem. That includes my 3S, 4S, and 6S batteries.

I also charge to a full 4.2v per cell.

If you want to go for longest battery life, then charge at 1C AND only charge to 4.1v per cell.

The Crazy 88 was a really fun airplane but it was one of the older foamies produced by Brad himself, before we moved to RCF and Telink as manufacturers. These companies have more efficient manufacturing capabilities and access to a better grade of foam. The Crazy 88 was a fun, fast roller, but the Crack Yak has taken the place for that kind of thing with the additional capabilities of precision flying and high pitch and yaw rates. For having the unique qualities of a bipe, the Crack Pitts has superseded the Crazy 88.
