Ask and you shall receive RC...ha.
Man the hobby has come a long way and companies like Brad's and a few others have kept this hobby worthwhile. From the new designs to the A plus service. And there are you guys here on the threads that help out the new guys like me. All of it is what makes this a whole lot of fun.

It's probably not your radio, it's more likely the ESC. You have to calibrate the trottle range.
Check your manual. For most ESC you put throttle on full, connect the battery, after two fast beeps close the throttle and then you will get the usual startup tones. Ready!

+1. I try to do this every once in a while just to make sure the throttle range is calibrated correctly.

Not getting the startup tones...... do I turn the TX off and back on after the tone for the throttle setting?

No, it is not good to turn of the transmitter in the middle of calibrating the ESC.
Are your digital throttle trim at center?

Is it supposed to be? I thought you always set the throttle trim to zero

It should be centered when using an electric motor. The ESC is designed with that in mind.

It also depends on the ESC, some should be set at the lowest trim setting. Got some 12amp ones that way.
The ones I have from TH do fine at mid setting. Haven't tried the 12amp ones though, using the old 10amp on my planes.

Thats seems to be about normal to me.
You should not need to use the trim. Put it at center, calibrate the ESC and fly!

I guess with my CY I will set it at 9 clicks, it idles slowly at that speed and the throttle curve seems the smoothest as possible.

I use idle on my balsa Sebart Katana 30, but not on the foamie, because I'm little afraid that the motor or the ESC will be damaged when I done an unscheduled landing and the plane lies on the ground.

You don't have your combo for your CY, right? Every ESC/motor is different so make sure you set your CY's ESC up for the CY motor.
