GoPro HD Hero vs Replay XD1080

Hi everyone

Thought i'd create a quick video to compare the field of view differences between the GoPro HD Hero and the Replay XD1080.

Both video feeds are 720p at 60FPS, and are mounted to a Gaui 500x Quadcopter

The audio changes half way through for a microphone comparison between the 2 camera's.

There have been no modifications to the video or the audio - both are Raw.

GoPro vs ReplayXD1080 - Comparison - Gaui 500x (2 min 2 sec)

Looks good, the wider view of the gopro make it looks smoother IMO.

What is the weight of the replayxd?

Its quite small... and a bit easier to mount than a GoPro.

I'm not sure which i perfer now. I like the wide angle of the GoPro, but i also like the mounting options of the ReplayXD1080.

Think im going to keep mounting both on my quad for now.

...and another one!

Thanks Huddo! Which one do you prefer?

I tend to lean towards the Replay now that I have had some more flights and I definitely prefer the colours of the Replay...

Here is a quick fixed wing compariosn I made a week ago;

Cheers,

Bjorn

Hey Icebear

I agree with you .

The colours are shown in both our videos to be better on the Replay.

The only reason I still use the GoPro is sometimes the wider angle is usefull. For example in a tight locations where you want a wider field of view.

Apart from that, Replay all the way

The other thing i've noticed, is that the Replay has smaller file sizes for the same duration as the GoPro. Not that it makes much difference to the viewing quality, the GoPro has amost double the bitrate of the Replay.

Here are some details from videos i've shot today:

GoPro:
Length - 00:21:16
Frame Width - 1280
Frame Height - 720
Data Rate - 15139kbps
Total Bitrate - 15267kbps
Frame Rate - 59 frames per second
File Size - 2.26GB

ReplayXD
Length - 00:21:10
Frame Width - 1280
Frame Height - 720
Data Rate - 8909kbps
Total Bitrate - 9037kbps
Frame Rate - 59 frames per second
File Size - 1.33GB

Good comparisons, thanks. The Replay still has a fairly wide FOV ... more than I was expecting.

It's quite a bit easier to mount also... and a bit more aerodynamic for fixed wing's
