First EDF flight (maiden for me and my plane)

Today I had my first flight with the EDF jet. In advance of the flight I was kind of nervous because of all the story's that it would be hard to fly (for the first time) especially for a beginner ( I consider myself a beginner with only 10/15 battery's of flight time). With a healthy dosis of adrenaline I plugged the plane in, checked the surfaces and gave it a toss. Imediately I noticed that it flies faster then my other planes (epp fpv and a cessna) but it handles quite good! I did notice that it ( as predicted ) has a delay between changing throttle and it actually flying faster, at least more then the other planes.

I made 4 flights all with a nice toss and soft landing some light aerobatics in between. I can definately say that my introduction in the EDF jets is quite a succes!

We made some nice photo's and video's, i will upload them as soon as they become available.

Oh the plane I used is the Jetiger by hobbyking.

When you get bored with the 3S JetTiger (or burn the motor out like I did), find yourself a cheap 4S fan/motor/ESC package and install it as a replacement. Rhino 4S 1550mAh 25C batteries fit with no foam gouging, and it ends up only a little nose heavy.

Mine now does 147kph according to the radar, which is a lot of fun when trying to keep up with something so small

Meanwhile i've flown about 30/35 batteries on this plane and still love it. Only thing is the color. At the moment I am painting it to give it more classy colors. Besides that I've also bought a 70mm Alphajet so Looking forward to the next flyable day.

This is halfway done, the silver still needs to be sprayed on.

Hoi Stef,

Waar vlieg je?

I did a jetiger as my first ever rc plane...crashed it, rebuild it, crashed it, rebuild again...and after a a dozen times I got the hang off it. Never flown the jetiger the way is was supposed to unfortunately....I fly an f35 and a EF 90mm now...And, damn, it is fun!

Never had any problems with this one, I'm flying 2200mah 3S. What was the reason of the crashes? Because the plane itself flies great (mine does), nice and stable had only good soft landings also on windy gusty days (10/16 knots, 3/4 bft) This is also my first EDF, started flying with a cessna about 3/4 months ago.

So I finised the jetiger with it's new color. My apologies for the low quality of the photo, I'll make a new one tomorrow:
