They appear rounder than the square edged full scale but a least they are fenced. I am not sure if that will help at our speeds but it still looks ok to me. I am treating it as a sport jet since the Habu is still months away and a lot more expensive.

I am not keen on the livery but I can change that. J

It's strange that the fuse is roughly the same size as the Habu, and lighter.
No-one's complaining in the Habu thread about weight?

Hopefully mine will come next week. SM89 on 8s to begin with, retracts are a must where I fly. Everything will hopefully come from the spare parts bin.
When the Habu finally reaches Oz, I'll get that too to compare them.

I wonder how hard it's going to be to re-profile the intakes?

with the components i intend using that's an auw of about 3.6 kg ran the lander again today with the makeshift eflux and pito 3.7 kg thrust and 206 mph exhaust speed 3.1 kw.zippy cells droped to 3.4v per cell under load so more improvements to be made there.did your fues weight include plastic fan unit included ?

Yup! 8 pounds. Did you include the hardware and servos. Lets just say 9lbs for argument sake. On a bungee that would be 45lbs of pull Hense the reason Im going with gear this time

I hesitated and lost out on a good deal for a Shuebeler Fan and 700 motor
Look like Im going with the HET fan and a 700 motor now. Probley going for a HP setup with a short flight time as I always do.

Any recommendations to a Very Powerful motor from HET. Im now going back to the 10s set up on 4500 nanos.

yup the 2.6-3 KG on HK listing a tad misleading.

The viper should have a lower wing loading than the Habu then as well so a few extra grams could be put down to size. Anyway, as I said earlier, I am not treating this as an ultra scale. Just a affordable sport jet.

Down here in Oz, it's hard to get anything more affordable. It will end up cheaper than the foam Habu.

MOTORS

The Het 700-83-975 is supposed to be the affordable benchmark in this range. I have heard nothing bad about it but I have swayed more to Mega motors as they drive my pylon and hot liners smoothly and with huge power.

I've had some customs built via Gary at Efflux specifically for Stumax fans. In fact, I have 4 motors and a SM90 and a SM100 on the Mega factory being tested as we type.

It's a slow process, I am hoping to have everything back inn Sydney in the next 5-6 weeks.

FYI cost have been comparable to HET and a fair bit less than some others. J
