Do you have fail-safe enabled on your receiver? If it is powering up from the ESC, it may be outputting an idle fail-safe signal until the radio signal has locked. which would cause the ESC to arm instead of calibrate. Maybe try disabling fail-safe temporarily, or power the rx from another, unrelated ESC or BEC first, so that it can get a signal, then plug in the ESC.

which FW for the folowing ESC

Hi,

does anybody know the following ESC and which SimonK FW is needed for this one:

The MOSFETs are AP4503AGM p-n channel MOSFET, so a pn FW is needed, but which one?

Many thanks

You must soldering the cable to the pins from the chip or you can use the Flashing Tool from HK.
See follow ATMega8 schematic

[QUOTE=simonk;23209548]Hi Steve! Before the boot loader.. So 2012-03-21 or older? Lots of changes have happened since then. Starting should be a lot better all around, but there are still problems on some motors (sometimes with one in a batch of motors). Once it is running, however, 2012-09-30 should be fine on all motors. I am working to see if I can do static position tracking during starting that should help.

update to this, my motors still have trouble starting but have not failed in the air yet.... I am wondering if I should be worried

Now I flashed 4 Red Brick 30A with tp.hex and all are working.
One had no solder pads, needed to solder wires to the atmel.
The high frequency sound which made me headache when flying Indoor is gone now. But I think the ESC is getting hotter then before. Is it maybe better to use the 8khz tp.hex?

I designed a large number of brushless esc for multi.it works very good and stable.
I will share the schematic for anyone who wants to do

Those are the MT-4008, right? I should be getting some to test with shortly. Starting can still be a bit of a pain with some motors. It might help to remove the sense filtering capacitors.

If it's getting hotter than before, particularly when the motor is loaded, definitely try the 8kHz version, but it will whine again. I'd recommend using the F-30A instead, or you could try messing with the gate drive resistors so that the P-channel FETs don't leak on when the N-channel PWM turns on.

Hmm, looks like all-N and external oscillator, but input pin still on PD2 (INT0), not PB0 (ICP1), and AIN1 is not used, so can't use ADC while timing from that pin. Trying to maintain compatibility with some software?

Ok, I checked it by myself:

ApFET PD4
AnFET PD5

BpFET PC5
BnFET PC4

CpFET PC3
CnFET PB0

mux_a ADC6
mux_b ADC7
mux_c ADC0

So, the bs.hex firmware should do the job.

I will test it tomorrow and report the results if anybody else will use these ESCs.

Thanks
JR

hi simonk
I use six fet n-channel
I do not use adc to indicate low battery
in addition to motor control, it does not add any task, it is only suitable for multirotor

The database sheet doesn't contain these 30 amps and they look very much like the 30amp of Blueseries that have P/N fets

Do you mean the gates are not discharged fast enough? Then would help a resistor from gate to ground. Is there a schematic with gate resistors who can be used.?
