Remember, you're buying pizza and beer when Wil visits. Looks like you'll be buying breakfast, too.

Before I glued in the control horn mount, I double checked to make sure that the aileron was just controlled from the top.

I forgot about the pic that EJ posted, but I looked at several showing either the top or the bottom of the ailerons.

Bruce, I'm doing a scheme taken from a black and white picture, so I'll have to guess as to the actual colors.

My guess is red and yellow.

that's real nice and will be a good challenge for your taping & painting skills! what years was that made? I just love the older birds with there classic lines; looking forward to watching you build this all the way through.

Bruce, The one in the pic was manufactured in 1941.

Masking could be fun. LOL My friend, Gary Sibert, owns a couple RC oriented companies. One makes paint masks. I may talk to him about the practicality of making masks for this scheme. I know that he can make them for the N-numbers. I'll also buy my rib tapes from him. http://www.pink-it.net/

Nothing to show, but I've sprayed 6 coats of Matte Clear Krylon on to the instrument panel. The idea is to seal the wood, making it smooth, like furniture.

The clear also brings out the beauty of the wood's grain. I sand with 400 grit, between coats.

The matte finish is nice, but the final coats may be in gloss. I used a gloss finish on my 195's instrument panel, and I really liked it.

Couldn't you seal with Z-Poxy instead?

Yes, I could, but I didn't want to open a new package, The Krylon has been sitting here, for a few years. I wanted to use it up.

Oh, ok! Just curious.

Actually I was also curious if you would know if z-poxy is stable, or does it become yellow with time...

Epoxy does yellow with time. On my IP, it probably would not be noticable.

Spent a little time in the shop this morning.

I decided to start the frame up of the left wing.

I also sprayed 3 more coats of clear Krylon, this time, switching to gloss.

I'll have to see what it looks like after the paint dries, but I believe that this part of the IP build is done.

Lookin' GREAT Tom!

Interesting design. Looks like the cabin "box" is the strong area with the rest of the fuselage structure tied into it.

The -165 all put together *almost* dwarfs your Zamboni in the background there...

The cabin area is strong, EJ. There's still more support to go in there, but the brass "wing tubes" need to be installed first.

I suppose that I should take a look at Big Orange. She's been sitting there since last March. I suppose I should lube her up, and do an oil change. Just can't make myself do it, though.

The sheer webs will be next. I'll probably do those tomorrow. Then wing tip and sheeting, similar to what I've done on the right wing.
