I'd love to see a contest where entrants have to build a SPAD, and get it in the air in an alloted time, or first up wins.

A whole new type of competition???

How was the maiden ? Any Pictures ? What engine are you using ? I would like to see it. I have been planning a SPAD with 074 Norvel and 2 oz tank so that I can get 15 minutes of power so I can practice. E power is great. I love it. But do not have $$ right now for ETEC , charger and speed control with Razor 350 adding upto US $300 or so. So old reliable 074 it is. Any input is appreciated.

The maiden flight was wild. I'm in no way familiar with 3D flight, but was hovering (kinda) for about 30 seconds before it "came down". Since the plane was only about 10 ft off the ground, there was no damage. These planes are really durable.

Sorry but I still haven't got a digital camera or I'd post some photos.

The plane is powered with an OS 0.40 LA (slightly underpowered, but not enough to restrict the plane) and the plane was modified to 30" WS and a 30" rail. The wing chord remained at 19" as recommended by this forum and SpadtotheBone .

With an 074 I would guess that you could shrink the plane down to about 24" WS and 14" chord. My plane has an AUW (empty tank) of 34 oz.

Good luck on your mini-SPAD3D.
