Who has tried both and which do you prefer? The FOV/Screen size is simular right?

I tried a FS in 2009 and that version does not compare with Cinemizer. I don't know about Dominator.
No, FOV is not similar at all ! FS use a forced optical formula to obtain an abnormal wide FOV, over 45 degrees or so, which make the edges very blurry, making some OSD impossible to read. For the same reason the IP distance tuning is very critical.
Cinemizers use a normal FOV, about 32 degrees, somewhere in this ballpark, anyway wider enough to not experience tunnel effect, but also to not affect resolution at all, in any point on the screen. The clarity is stunning, we have a saying in our country when we want to define the transparency of a thing: "Zeiss Crystal" ! I hope this should say all.

Both the cinemizers and the dominators have a 30degree FOV, I have the FS base already and have briefly tried the cinemizers and my first impressions were 'small screen' compared to fs base. Im leaning towards the dominators due to the fact they have light blocking and add-ons like HT and RX available, probably more suited to field use too. However the picture is the most important factor that's why I am asking if anyone has compared both.

Image quality on the dominators is very good, slightly smaller image than the RCV922, but very crisp.
The built-in 5G8 receiver option is very good, as is the head-tracker. Combine with a couple of cloverleafs, and a 600mW 5G8 Tx, and the smiles are guaranteed.

The silicone eye pieces are just plain cool, and very functional.

One was made for FPV, one was not.

The facts are presented, the decision pretty easy :-)

I tried both and Anthony outlines exactly my train of thought. Cinemizers are JUST video goggles, Dominators are an integrated FPV solution, it is all you need to bring to the field, the Cinemizers need cables, a Rx, a battery for the Rx, more cables, etc. etc. The decision you need to make for FPV use is pretty clear to me ...

All of that is irrelevant if you’re using a groundstation minus headtracker. I just want the goggles to be good at what they are intended to do and that’s provide a good picture, block sun light and have adjustable IPD. Which one is better under those specifics?

Cinemizer does not have adjustable IPD, just adjustable diopter.
Dominator, unlike older FS models, seems to have also fixed IPD, at least so suggest tech specs:

So they seem to be more or less the same so preference would be to fatshark since they are more suited to FPV'ers?

How do the fatshark dominators compare against these?

I've never used fatsharks but I'm happy with my AIOs. Very easy ground station, if you even want to call it that, really I plug it into my futaba trainer port for power, screw a turbine CP antenna on the goggles and fly.
