I think you should. It's certainly capable and well-made. I'm not so sure about the price break though, it can only go down from this point, at least in my opinion

do you think that they can update the FW in the future so that their main loop is also at 200Hz and can utilize the motor outputs at 400Hz properly?

Or rather, in your opinion, is it possible for this to be done by a FW update only, with the same hardware?

Well, the motor outputs are already 400Hz. That's not the problem.

The 200Hz could mean a lot of things... That *could* very well be the IMU update rate - how fast the IMU data is outputted - this could be raw data, or it could already be quarternions/euler angles - this is going over CANBus with the rest of the stuff, so it can't be very high rate. Or it could be the main "loop" time, in which case 200Hz is ok, nothing spectacular, MK is ~500Hz, MuiltiWii is 125Hz, Asctec Hummingbirds are 1kHz, just to give an idea. Remember, most sensors (gyros , acc, etc) have some fixed output rate as well.

It might be interesting to connect some protocol analyzer to the CAN bus and checkout the kind of data IMU/MC are exchanging - there could be some very interesting telemetry possibilities (which I'm sure DJI has coming up on their own) simply by listening to the data and reformatting it into something cool, like for OSD or etc...

Keep up the good work TC, now create a board that will grab all of that telemetry info for us so I can pipe it into my Aurora 9 or a PC

I would be almost interested in doing that but I bet DJI already has something coming up that would do similar things.. Unless they want $2500 for it, then I can be a winner Pretty sure the data can be used for OSD, just raw telemetry, or whatever...
