You guys can really only fly on Saturdays and Sundays?

...What makes those days different that week days? I think that since there isn't nearly as many people walking around at coastal sites it would be even better to fly on the weekdays??

Such a silly rule isn't it? I'm sure the fact that Fermin is only a 10min drive south has something to do with the lack of uproar.

A while back the city was about to shut us down due to complaints from homeowners on the north side of the slope. Too many planes were landing on their house/yard and the pilots would trespass to retrieve the plane.

Our most senior flyer negotiated the "weekend only" plus AMA arrangement in lieu of getting shut down all together. So if anyone does fly at Bluff Cove and for some reason your plane is lost in the homes to the right - do not walk on the property to retrieve it! Most likely one of the local flyers will be there who can assist getting your plane back.

And yes if we do fly mid-week we go to Fermin which is much less crowded on week-days anyway.

We had a TA6 pay us a visit
His first pass he came in from the point on the left, at cliff level, pulled slightly higher as he got to us an then he did a knife edge turn over our heads, went back to the point again and turned back to us, this time with more altitude.
When he was in the bowl behind us he turn towards us pulling in to a dive, turned on his smoke, and as he passed us he pulled up and did a slow left roll.
It was like having our own airshow!
I am guessing the folks in the plane know we fly there and if you read this thread, thanks for the show!!
We flew about another 30 minutes and called it a day as the lift was dying down.
What a great afternoon!
Very nice meeting you all and look forward to next time!
Hi guys, yes I'm a former die-hard Bluffer. In fact, I was part of the "glider bum" group that basically lived there in the early 90's because we didn't really have jobs LOL! The plane is a Nanchang CJ-6A and I saw someone was flying so did a little show...don't want to piss off the neighbors by doing that too much though. The plane is a Nanchang CJ-6A Chinese Air Force primary trainer! Russ, I keep missing you at events! We have to coordinate that better

Personally, I would prefer not to have Palos Verdes or even Bluff Cove in the name. My in-laws live in PVE and with all of the problems they've had with the city and their pompous neighbors, I can honestly say that I don't like that town and don't want to be associated with PVE in any way. The other thing is, except for Jim, none of us actually live in PVE so why call ourselves the Palos Verdes or Bluff Cove <whatevers>. Finally, a name like that sounds like something my grandpa might have been a member of. On the other hand, I don't think he would have been a member of the Fat Fuse Brotherhood. Not saying we have to use that but I think we can come up with something a little more imaginative and fun sounding.

Short and sweet is good.
Bluff Cove Flyers
Bluff Slope Flyers (less area specific)
Our club is the "Laguna Niguel Slope Soaring Guild" , it's a bit too long.
Tom
p.s. if you guys ever get shirts made, you've got to put "I fly with Jim" on there some place.
