Alternative to expensive UHF system

I had planned to get a frsky 2.4ghz diy kit for my turnigy and a 1.2ghz lawmate system for my fpv plane. But recently I've been reading threads saying they can be glitchy at times... So I was wondering I I should go with the 35mhz corona system. Will I be able to boost this signal like people boost the 2.4ghz signal? I'd like to have a solid 3 miles of range if I can. Im lookin to get as much range as possible and not have any interference with a 1.2ghz video system. I run a turnigy 9x if it helps.

Consider Frsky with 5.8GHz video. Current record is 8km with proper antennas.
